ANNUAL GIVING

We appreciate your support

Launched in May 2019, MIS+ The Campaign for MIS is the School’s current major focus in respect of philanthropic giving and includes support for the following key projects:

To achieve these plans as soon as possible, the School will once again look for support from individual donors.

For more information about any of these projects, or to discuss any other ideas you might have for making a transforming gift to Munich International School, please do not hesitate to contact me, members

of the Board, members of the Capital Campaign Committee and members of the Advancement Office.

Sincerely,

Timothy J ThomasHead of School

Nurturing, challenging and inspiring students requires inspiring teachers, superior facilities, exceptional materials and the resources to take advantage of opportunities as they arise. Munich International School

(MIS) is able to offer extraordinary experiences to our students and community because many parents, grandparents, alumni, current and former teachers and staff, and other friends of the School have given generously throughout our 50+ year history.

Why Give?

Tuition and fees at MIS are substantial. What many people do not realise, however, is that our fees are calculated with a clear intention to remain as affordable as possible. Our tuition fees cover our personnel costs and expenses for educational materials, ongoing professional development, maintenance of our facilities, utilities, security, cleaning and other routine spending. As MIS is a non-profit association and receives some funding from the Bavarian government, we must negotiate a careful financial

balancing act that precludes almost any form of investment or savings.

Our entrance fees have always supported periodic, large-scale capital works projects such the Languages, Arts and Design Centre (LADC) and Track & Field Complex, and our Performing Arts Centre (PAC). The timely completion of the LADC and eight-lane Track & Field was made possible, however, only because of additional philanthropic support from the school community.

Why does MIS need philanthropic support?

Innovation Hub

Makers’ Lab

New Sports Hall

Innovation Grants

MIS+ General Fund

Our new campus Hub will significantly increase space and resources for quiet study, individual and group project work, collaboration and inquiry-based learning with partners both within and beyond the MIS community. It will unite our research, literacy, information technology and communication resources into one central facility. (total cost at least € 3.5M)

Our highly successful, new Makers’ Lab would benefit from additional tools and resources. For example, our students could create even more sophisticated projects with additional 3D Printers and a paint and varnish booth. (variable costs)

A new, quadruple sports hall will increase opportunities for movement, athletics, and physcial fitness, and will enable whole-school assemblies and other school-wide events for the first time in many years. (total cost at least € 9.5M)

Innovation Grants enable teachers to propose and to enact exciting new approaches for addressing students’ developing needs and interests. The grants support mathematics olympiads, robotics competitions, social-emotional programmes, and outdoor learning materials, to name just a few examples. (variable costs)

As we work toward all of our strategic goals to make MIS future-ready and an inspiring and nurturing place for children to learn, gifts to the MIS+ General Fund enable us to put your money toward our highest priority projects.
