The Annual Directory is filled with fantastic information about our supplier partners. Each of them is aware of the special requirements of military reunions and take great care to be sure your reunion goes off without a hitch. They are all very enthusiastic about working with you. Their passion for our veteran community is evident from the very first connection.

This year, there are some new attractions to consider. Having traveled to many of them personally, I can say with certainty they are well worth the visit. Motts Military Museum, The Maine Military Museum, USS Turner Joy, USS Alabama, Storytellers and the Hideaway Farm are just some of the amazing places to add to your reunion itinerary.

Reunion Planners take note! On page 25 you will see a form to post your reunion complimentary on our website and in the quarterly magazine. We are expanding our services and now can submit your reunion with other organizations such as American Legion, VFW, DAV, and Tin Can Sailors. Please note some of these organizations publicly list your name, phone number and email address. We ask that you acknowledge this prior to submission.

To protect your privacy and reduce unwanted solicitation, reunion information published on our website will include embedded links to email addresses. Published information will be limited to the following:

MRN Quarterly Magazine:

• Reunion Organization • Reunion Dates • Reunion Location

MRN Website:

• Reunion organization (with or without logo)• Reunion planner name • Reunion dates • Reunion location • Embedded email link • Embedded website link • Reunion Details such as registration costs and

dates, agenda and planner message can be included as well.

The member listings included in the Annual Directory are also on our website under “Find a Reunion Location” or “Places to hold a Reunion”. New website listing features include the following:

Social Media: Connect to members FaceBook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube accounts.

Special Offers: Many of our members have incentives, offers or discounts to help offset your reunion budget. You can find these options by clicking on the special offers tab to see all the options or within each member listing. Look for the white tag icon with participating listings.

Veteran Reviews: Bravo Zulu, Atta Boy, Well Done, Thanks a Million!

Hotel, CVB and Attraction partners routinely go above and beyond to make sure your reunion is perfect. The best way to thank them is to post a review letting other reunion planners know how much you appreciated their efforts.

The Museum of America and the Sea has hosted 100s of military reunions over the years. Veterans love our restaurants, meeting rooms and unique, ever-chang-ing special events. With 4 registered Na-tional Historic Site vessels to explore -- in-cluding The Charles W. Morgan, the only surviving wooden whaleship in the world plus always-new exhibits and exhibitions, boat tours along the historic Mystic River aboard the Navy launch Liberty, or on the restored 1908 steamboat Sabino, there’s something here for everyone. Wander through The DuPont Preservation Ship-yard where Mystic Seaport shipwrights are restoring The Mayflower 11 until June 2019 or enjoy a sit-down show at our plan-etarium. Our team works with local hotels and reunion planners to create one-of-a-kind events that attract a massive turn-out. Our four on-site restaurants create options to suit every need from delicious box lunches, to a sit-down dinner for 300 in our river side ballroom. Located halfway between Boston and New York, or just 45 minutes from Bradley Airport in Hartford or T.F. Green Airport in Providence, it’s an easy trip to get here.

Maine Military Museum Lee Humiston 50 Peary Terrace South Portland, ME 04106 [email protected] 207-650-8651 mainemilitarymuseum.org/

The mission of the museum is to teach todays and future generations the true meaning of SERVICE ABOVE SELF. Through authentic artifacts, displayed in a variety of formats throughout the muse-um, viewers can bear witness to the expe-riences and sacrifices of past members of our Armed Forces. Museum exhibits cover every aspect of military service from the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan and Iraq. The primary focus is on American Prison-ers of War (POWs) from our own Civil War up to the Vietnam Conflict. It is not a glo-rification of war, but a tribute to those who have served in the military, during peace-time and in war. It is also a place to hon-or those who have paid the ultimate price while serving the state of Maine and our nation over the years.

As President Lincoln's Gettysburg Ad-dress encompassed the emotions of the American struggle, The National Civil War Museum portrays this struggle as a time line, from the issues straining the nation through the war's conclusion at Appomat-tox Court House. Nowhere can you find a better understanding of the Civil War, its effect on the nation, or on the peo-ple. Come walk our halls. See and feel the emotions rise and fall as you embrace Bull Run, Shiloh, Vicksburg, Chancellors-ville, Wilderness, Antietam, and Gettys-burg; once ordinary places transformed to hallowed ground within a few hours. ***Note from MRN*** This museum is a MUST. Military Reunion visits should in-clude a meal and presentation by Wayne Motts CEO. His enthusiasm and passion for history is infectious.

The Fredericksburg Regional Tourism Partnership invites you to host your next reunion in Fredericksburg, VA. From the adventurous days of the New World ex-plorers to the devastating days of the Civil War, famous and ordinary travelers have sojourned in our beautiful city. The museum secured many vehicles, military aircraft, and a Higgins Boat from World War II. In 2001, the museum broke ground for a

I hadn’t seen my military buddies in

years. Then Gary called and said we’re

all getting together…in Plano. Perfect.

It’s close to Dallas, but just far enough

away. We checked out the flight museum

when we got there. It brought back lots

of memories…and plenty of old stories.

We had an amazing steak dinner and

4 TIPS to PLANNING a SUCCESSFUL REUNIONby Kristina Thorne

LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION.

Selecting a destination can have a major impact on attendance. When it comes to choosing a location, think of the three C’s: Convenience, Comfort and Captivation. Here are some questions to ask yourself before booking: Where’s the nearest international airport? Are there convenient transportation options for guests? Are the accommodations welcoming? Will guests have plenty of dining and entertainment options nearby?

HAVE FUN!

Boost attendance and spirits by providing guests with a variety of fun and interesting attractions. A destination with activities such as beaches, museums, military bases, shopping and dining is sure to get reunion guests, and their spouses, excited about registering for the event. And who knows, they may even extend their trip!

DON’T BREAK THE BANK!

There are many ways to stretch your budget. Typically you can save up to 30% on event space, caterers and more when you select properties and vendors outside of downtown corridors. Look for hotels and venues that provide free parking, free airport shuttles, complimentary breakfast and package deals. Guests will appreciate you’re looking out for their finances so they can focus on fun!

YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO IT ALONE.

Some destination marketing organizations provide free services that can help lighten the load on your shoulders. Seattle Southside RTA is happy to help make your reunion a success, with free services such as hotel sourcing, site inspection coordination, itinerary planning, help with charter transportation and group rates at attractions, promoting your event, and even creating customized welcome packets.

The NW PBR Chapter is in the Puget Sound Region of Washington State. They maintain and operate a vintage Vietnam era 32 Ft. MKII (PBR) built in Washington State and a Working Museum. On an as needed basis, the PBR and crews takes the PBR out onto the water to educate the public of the boat and crews significances to Naval History. We also participate in parades, escort duty of US Naval Ships, support other 501s and Reunion Friendly partners. We can establish rides at the following locations: Seattle -Everett - Ta-coma - Olympia and Portland. We are a 501 C-19 Veterans Association. Our name Gamewardens was given to us by the Pen-tagon / Department of the Navy in 1966. We carry it to this day. The NW Chapter is composed mostly of Combat Veterans who served in the Brown Water Navy of Task Force 116, US Army's 458th PBR and newer river boat units. These men served during the Vietnam and in recent history, Iraq. Our MKII PBR was manufactured in Bellingham Washington in north Puget Sound. The PBR was developed for shal-low water combat operations in river delta environments. We supported the stand-ing up of today's Riverines. Give us a call and take a ride on a true historic boat as a crewman or woman.

It’s no accident that the Tucson region is home to more than a million residents and host to more than 7 million visitors a year. There’s something magical about this place where the Santa Cruz and Ril-lito Rivers converge, where five moun-tain ranges form a protected valley, and where majestic saguaros stand guard on the desert floor while aspen and pine whisper high above them on the moun-tain peaks. Located in Southern Arizona, Tucson was founded on August 20, 1776 an event celebrated annually at Tucson’s birthday party, La Fiesta de San Agustìn. But people had long before felt something special here and made it their home. In fact, the area we call Tucson is one of the oldest continually inhabited areas in North America. The second-largest city in Ari-zona and the county seat of Pima County, boasting an average 350 sunny days a year and warm dry air.
