WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM The data presented in the following tables and charts represent the information that is entered in the state’s Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) also known as N-FOCUS (Nebraska Family Online Client User System). The data is extracted annually and is dependent upon the accuracy of the data entered in N-FOCUS at the time the data is extracted. The data for Calendar Year 2011 was extracted on April 15, 2012. Previous Years were on the following dates
- Calendar Year 2006: April 30, 2007 - Calendar Year 2007: November 13, 2008 - Calendar Year 2008: April 13, 2009 - Calendar Year 2009: March 7, 2010 - Calendar Year 2010: April 3, 2011

CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT REPORTS ACCEPTED/SCREENED OUT
The chart above represents the reports related to child abuse received by the Department of Health and Human Services during Calendar Year 2011. There were a total of 33,521 reports categorized as follows:
• Dependent Child: 920 (2.8%) • CPS Information/Referral: 2,319 (6.9%) • Child Abuse/Neglect: 30,282 (90.3%)
The Pie Chart on the right further categorizes the Child Abuse/Neglect reports and groups them as either Accepted for Assessment or Screened Out. Screened out reports are reports that did not meet the level of severity or definition of Child Abuse and Neglect that required assessing by a Children and Family Specialist.
• Accepted: 15,175 (50.1%) • Screened Out: 15,107 (49.9%)
