    WCCCD’s mission is to empower individuals, businesses, and communities to achieve their higher education and career

    advancement goals through excellent, accessible, culturally diverse, and globally competitive programs and services.

    WCCCD: • Serves 32 communities encompassing

    approximately 500 square miles with nearly 1.8 million people throughout Wayne County, one of the largest counties in the State of Michigan.

    • Has five campus locations and the Mary Ellen Stempfle University Center.

    • Offers more than 120 certificate and degree programs.

    As a publicly funded institution, the Wayne County Community College District is committed to providing our community information pertaining to the operations of the District. As part of our transparency efforts, the Wayne County Community College District complies with Sec. 209 in P.A. 201 of 2012, the education omnibus budget bill, which requires community colleges to publish transparency webpage and stipulate the content.

    WCCCD is part of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) – Eastern Conference. We are also a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) – Region XII. The following sports are offered at WCCCD: Women’s Cross Country, Basketball and Bowling. Men’s Cross Country, Basketball, Bowling and Men’s and Women’s Golf.   • The mission of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is to provide the students of WCCCD the opportunity to compete in a well-balance, quality NJCAA Division II athletic program that meets the needs, interests, abilities of male and female students, while meeting the commitment of the District’s overall mission. Our mission requires that WCCCD athletes be students first, that they be admitted with careful attention to their academic record and motivation, that they benefit from WCCCD programs and make satisfactory progress toward a degree, and that their attrition and graduation rates be comparable to those of other students. WCCCD is also committed to the physical and emotional well-being of student-athletes and to the social development of the whole person. We honor the worth of individuals of all racial, gender, ethnic, and national origins, and we value persons from all socio-economic, educational, and experiential background.

    Athletics Mission Statement Wayne County Community College District

  • WCCCD has sent hundreds of student-athletes to universities on athletic scholarships from the different sports program that the college offers. This past season the following student athletes received athletic scholarships.

    Women’s Basketball Sammiyah Hoskin U of Detroit Mercy, MI Malakia Cooper Alverno, University of Milwaukee, WI Aleesha Cook Ottawa University, KS Vantane Garrett University Salem, WA HONORS

    Wayne County Community College District has had hundreds of the athletes qualify for individual honors such as All-American, All-Region, All-State, and All-Conference titles. Wildcats are proud to have produced athletes who have achieved rankings and appearances on a national level. Men’s Basketball • The Wildcat men’s basketball coaching staff has been honored over the years

    with 6 Coach of the Year Awards. • This past season 5 men’s basketball players received athletic scholarships. • 3 players were selected to the MCCAA All-Conference Team. • Keshon Gordon first team MCCAA All-Conference. • Zane Desours second team MCCAA All-Conference. • Marcus Fleming third team MCAA All-Conference and All-Conference defense Team. • Wildcats finished in second place in Men’s Basketball MCCAA Eastern Conference.

  • Women’s Basketball • The wildcat women’s basketball coaching staff has been honored over the years with

    3 Coach of the Year Awards. • This past season 4 women’s basketball players received athletic scholarships. • WCCCD player Sammiyah Hoskin selected NJCAA All- America Second Team. • Sammiyah Hoskin selected MCCAA 1st team All-Conference, All-Freshman team,

    All-Defensive team and Eastern • Conference Player of the Year. • Deja Henson selected MCCAA All-Defensive Team. • Vantane Garrett select second team MCCAA All-Conference. • Wildcats finished in third place in women’s Basketball MCCAA Eastern Conference. Men’s Golf • The Wildcats golf team has produce one All American and 3 appearances at the

    National level Men’s Bowling • WCCCD Ferrial Ellis was selected to the MCCAA All-Freshman Team

    Cross Country Men

    Grand Rapids 5K Invitational September 20, 2019 WCCCD Wildcats had a good showing for the first event of the year. All runners completed race for point total. Oakland Raider 5K Invitational October 11, 2019 WCCCD Percy Redd finished in 26th out of 77 runners with a time of 30:23.

    Lansing Knights 5K Invitational October 11, 2019 WCCCD Wildcats finished invitational with a team score of 254. MCCAA/Region 5K Invitational October 26, 2019 WCCCD had 2 runners compete in the Region Invitational.
