ANNOUNCEMENTS Deadline for Sunday Bulletin is Wednesdays at noon.
Immanuel Lutheran Church—Bristol, Connecticut
July 23, 2017 Seventh Sunday after Pentecost
Remembering The Past!
From The 125th Anniversary Committee.
The vicarage program began here at Immanuel in 1920, with Rev. Dr. Alfred O. Rast, born in Terryville, Connecticut in 1898. The duties of a vicar at that time included: being a full time teacher in the parochial school; helping play the organ; preaching occasionally; and assisting the pastor.
Vicar Lewis Busch served Immanuel from 1990 - 1991. He was the last of a lengthy history of vicars here. Vicar Busch was a student at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. He was a native of southern California, and had said at the time he arrived here that he hoped they could “make it through the winter”.
Pictured here is Vicar Lewis Busch with his wife Edith and their son Joshua.
From the 125th Anniversary Committee, our book is coming
together and we still have groups and boards we have not
heard from. We would like to have everyone covered and not
left out. Final deadline is July 31. Email articles and photos to
[email protected] or place article in the mail slot for 125th
Anniversary in the office.
The beautiful flowers on our altar today are provided by Linda Beaudoin, from her flower garden.
A BIG THANK YOU TO THE IMMANUEL LUTHERAN PHOTO CLUB!
They donated an Audio Visual Center to our church and school. The
center consists of a 65” DIGITAL TV mounted on a rolling stand and a
Blue Ray DVD player.
THRIVENT ACTION TEAMS ON THE MOVE
Members of Thrivent Financial have formed an action team here at Immanuel. We will
be collecting material for the Orphan Grain Train to restock and make new health kits
and school kits.
This event will take place thru Sunday, August 13.
There are containers in the hall going to the library
for your contributions.
We are proud to be able to serve our community
and other parts of the world that are in need of our
help. We are grateful for Thrivent’s support in this
effort.
I thank you for your help in making this campaign
a success. Your efforts will be greatly blessed.

The 125th Anniversary Committee
Thank you, Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. On June 3, 2017 we had a blood drive for Troop 21 Eagle Scout candidate John Duncan. John's goal of 30 pints was surpassed by 9 pints. Mr. Lauretti was the last donor. 39 pints is turned into 117 units. I want to thank all the donors who came out to support us and achieve the goal.
Thank you for your continued support of Troop 21.
The Helping Ministry
Uniforms for Students: The Helping Ministry will be subsidizing uniform purchases for some families in need. If you would like to join in helping these families you may donate cash - you can put it in the mite box at the bottom of the stairs, or put it in an envelope in the offering plate - clearly marked - UNIFORMS - Helping Ministry. You can also drop off gift cards in the office. The places requested are Old Navy, Kohls, or JC Penney. Any help would be appreciated. Contact Linda Beaudoin with questions. 860-589-6431.
YOUTH TAG SALE: We have finally settled on a date - September 30. You may begin to bring items on September 1. Contact Linda Beaudoin with ques-tions or for pickups. 860-589-6431.
Check out the bulletin board across from the coat rack. We have info about an Organ Concert by Ben Henderson of Eastman School of Music in Madison on Wednesday, August 9, and Orphan Grain Train Open House/Picnic/Fundraiser on Saturday, August 19 at Holy Trinity.
YOUNG-AT-HEART SURPRISE SUMMER LUNCH DAYTRIPS
Since we don't have our usual lunch schedule in the summer, we have planned special lunch daytrip events this year on the first Thursdays at 11:30 (same time and place as usual). You may have heard about the wonderful daytrip we took on July 6. No signups for these daytrips, just arrive in our parking lot as usual and we will carpool away on our adventure (don't worry about driving unless you want to give others a ride). Bring about $25 with you when you come on Aug. 3, Thursday; there will be little walking involved. Call Carol 860-582-9608 only if you have questions or comments; hope to see you August 3 rain or shine.
ROCKWELL PARK FESTIVAL is Saturday, August 19, 2017 from
10am to 6pm!!! Please come on down and support our church and
school any time between 10 am and 6pm. There is a sign-up sheet in
the office if you wish to help.
Thank you for your support!
Voter’s meeting next Monday, July 31 at 7pm,
in the church sanctuary.
