Welcome to worship this winter morning! As we gather to worship, let us remember that God wants us to “do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly” with him (Micah 6:8, NRSV). Introduction for the Day: The glory of the Lord is revealed in the reading of scripture. People stand at attention. People weep. People prostrate themselves in prayer. The unity of the church is another reflection of the glory of God. Most gloriously, the promises of God are fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ. Gather round. Listen up. Glimpse the glory of God. Child for Baptism: (11:00) Jackson Joseph Chose, child of Kristin and Joseph Chose, Wauwatosa, was born December 12, 2012. Sponsors are Mary Kalhagen and Nicholas Chose. El Salvador Trip Sharing: During the Education Hour today (9:45-10:45), in the Upper Room, participants in the El Salvador Mission Trip (Jan. 8-17) will tell about their trip and the ways in which the partnership has flourished. St. Matthew’s Annual Meeting of the Congregation will take place on Sunday, January 27 at 12:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This year’s meeting includes a potluck lunch. The meeting will include a report on 2012 business, election of new council members, presentation and approval of the 2013 budget, and a presentation and vote to begin a comprehensive fund appeal for a building program in 2013. All are invited. The 2012 Annual Report is available for pick-up today at the Welcome Center and also across from the church office. Coffee Today? Your donations at coffee time are directed toward the cost of the coffee. The price of coffee around the world is rising, so donations are more important than ever. Also, the Mt. Journeys Through Revelation: Apocalyptic Hope for TodayWednesday Evenings 7:00-8:30 PM on January 23, 30 and February 6thLed by Pastor MargaretThe book of Revelation is one of the most difficult books of the Bible filled with mysterious symbolism. This study will help us to see the overall message of this book as a message of hope. Participants are encouraged to read the entire book out loud before com-ing. Revelation promises a blessing to the person Ò who reads aloud the words,Ó as well as to Ò those who hearÓ (Rev 1:3). You may also want to read Revelation 21-22 first. The promise of the renewed earth - Ò the Tree of Life, the river of life and the city of GodÓ - will help to sustain you throughout the long journey of this book.
