• Hieroglyphics: Writing system of the Egyptians
• Huang He: Yellow River, where the Yellow River Valley civilization developed
• Indus River: River in India around which the Indus River Valley civilization developed
• Mandate of Heaven: permission from the gods to rule in China
• Nile River: River in Egypt around which the Nile River Valley civilization developed
• Oracle bones: pieces of bone used for communicating with the gods
• Pharaoh: God-King of the Egyptians
