Magnification angiography of course is not a major break-through in neuroradiology but constitutes an important step in the ultimate refinement of angiographic technique. The monograph is not only a beautifully designed document of magnification angio- graphy but also a rich atlas of angiographic pathology. It is recommended to all who are dealing with cerebral angiography.

The papers in this volume were presented at the Brain Tumor Symposium, held in Columbus, Ohio, in Oct. 1970.

The volume contains articles concerning the following topics in brain research : experimental tumor models, biological characteristics of glioma in tissue cultures, metabolic activities of glioma, recent progress in chemotherapy and radiation of gliomas and the activity of the blood-brain barrier in neoplasia.

Most of the articles are very instructive and many fields are covered. There is something for almost everyone who has an interest in brain tumor research. The book closes with a panel discussion and a summary.

Muscle spasticity is an intriguing problem in many aspects, adequate treatment has yet ot be introduc- ed. This book contains 21 papers with discussions, read during an international symposium, held in Vienna in april 1971, on the subject of spasticity. Many authors report the results with trials of the skeletalmuscle relaxant Lioresal (CmA 34, 647-Ba). Being a derivative of gamma-aminobutyric acid, it is supposed to influence the inhibitory gabaminergic neurotransmission. Satisfactory results were reported in treatment of spasticity of spinal origin and to a lesser degree with multiple sclerosis. Introductory chapters deal with different aspects of muscle spasticity: muscle spindle, gamma system, nervous structures guiding regulatory circuits, responsible for muscle tone. Moreover, much in- formation is given about objective and subjective evaluation of spasticity, the usefulness of instru- mentation in clinical testing, pharmacological differentiation of a new drug and therapeutic implica- tions for neurological and rehabilitation centers. Although Lioresal is not the ultimate myotonolytic agent, physicians, dealing with muscle spasticity, may find this survey of interest.
