Clinical Implications of the Revised European-American Lymphoma Classification 44 March 1996 The Department of Pathology and the Division of Medical Oncology, Massachusetts General Hospital, and The Harvard Cooperative Oncology Group, Harvard Medical School, will present a course on the clinical implications of the new lymphoma classification (Blood 84: 1361, 1994), at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The course will familiarize both practising and academic medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and pathologists with the new lymphoma classification and its clinical implications. An international faculty of pathologists and oncologists will present the defining pathological and biological features of each lymphoma entity, the clinical importance of recognizing each entity, principles of staging, prognostic factors and current and future treatment options. Instruction will be by lecture, with frequent open discussion periods. The last t day will be a workshop on new therapies for lymphomas The course has Category 1 accreditation for approximately 24 hours of CME credit by the American Medical Association. The fee for the 24 day course is $425.00 and $75.00 for the optional workshop: (residents and fellows $320.00). The First International Conference on Gastroenterological Carcinogenesis in conjunction with the Sixth Hiroshima Cancer Seminar

22-24 October 1996 Hiroshima, Japan

This is the first conference designed to discuss and exchange new information on pathogenesis of gastroenterological cancers with the entire body rather than on an organ-by-organ basis. The conference will be held in conjunction with and preceded by the sixth Hiroshima Cancer Seminar. This seminar will focus on the topics of ‘Cancer-stromal Interaction’.

The First International Conference on Gastroenterological Carcinogenesis has been designed to make further advances in controlling gastroenterological cancers. Participants, from a broad range of specializations within gastroenterological oncology, will present their latest research. Findings can be presented in oral or poster sessions at the conference, in the following categories: experimental carcinogenesis, molecular carcinogenesis, tumour biology, biomarkers, cancer prevention, epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment, etc. The conference will include two keynote and four plenary lectures by distinguished scientists’ and seven symposia covering specific topics in the fields of gastrointestinal carcinogenesis, liver carcinogenesis, pancreas carcinogenesis, experimental carcinogenesis, etc. This conference should define key areas for future research in gastroenterological carcinogenesis.

The Japanese Society of Pathology delegation to the meeting of the Pathological Society of Great Britain & Ireland in 1995 at Oxford University, UK.
