Annex III: Statistical Annex
Since the Sustainable Development Goals (also known as the Global Goals) were agreed, the UK has continued its efforts to bring in data for more and more
Global Indicators. As of 4 June 2019, the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) had acquired headline data for 74% of the Global Indicators. The ONS has
responsibility for collating UK data for the Global Indicators and for checking the validity of the data using the UK’s Code of Practice for Statistics. The ONS is
committed to sourcing data that gives the clearest picture of the UK’s contribution to the Goals. To ensure that UK data relating to the Global Indicators are
available publicly in an open and transparent way, ONS has developed the UK’s National Reporting Platform. The National Reporting Platform lists all the
Global Indicators and reports data where available including the source, disaggregations, and other relevant information. The ONS is continually seeking to
provide timely, comprehensive and disaggregated (broken down) data to address the Leave No One Behind commitment.
Data reported on the National Reporting Platform may not match the data sources used within the UK’s Voluntary National Review. The function of the
National Reporting Platform is to report data which meets the global metadata requirements for each indicator (as closely as possible). In several instances
other data sources may be more relevant in a UK context and these have been used in the Voluntary National Review to illustrate the UK’s position on each
of the Goals.
This Statistical Annex lists the data points and sources of the 180 Global Indicators that the UK had reported by 4 June 2019. It also lists the indicators in which
the UK is currently not reporting any data, the ONS is committed to tracking down sources for these remaining indicators. To read more about this, please
see the “Using data and tracking progress towards the Goals” chapter of the Voluntary National Review.
The National Reporting Platform is updated when more recent data becomes available or new sources are identified. To make sure the most up-to-date
data is referenced, it is recommended that data are always sourced directly from the National Reporting Platform. This is a snapshot in time.
