enhancedEnhance Beauty in Grantham reveal this seasons hottest

NEW body treatment to help you look fantastic and feel great in that little black dress this Christmas!

IonIthermIe is considered to be the leading treatment for combating cellulite and has been the market leader for over 20 years, constantly winning press awards and media coverage.

Cara explains, “We always start our treatments with a detailed consultation. It’s very important to talk to our customer and find out what areas really concern them. this gives us an opportunity to explain the treatment fully and to capture and manage the clients expectations. We then take some measurements so that we can track the success of the treatment. It’s great to be able to show the client how many inches they have lost, although most people say that they can feel the difference as soon as they put their clothes back on and notice how loose they are!”

treatment begins with a mixture of sliming and firming creams and a unique fat busting ampule is applied to the target areas. A thermal clay mask is then spread over the areas that the client wishes to sculpt. We then pad up the client to get ready to tone and sculpt the problem areasFor thirty minutes a muscle stimulating current is sent through the mask that acts as a conductor.Cara comments “Clients really enjoy the sensation of this treatment. It really feels like you are getting a work out but without the fatigue!“

We can target many different areas of the body. the main treatments we promote are :The Cheek LifT - to tone, firm and lift the bottom! The Tummy Trim - often described as the equivalent of doing 600 sit ups!The hip and Thigh - Perfect for sculpting pear shaped figures!

results are visible after just one treatment although for best results a course of treatments may be prescribed. the results are immediate: dewy, toned and smooth skin with cellulite noticeably improved and overall inch loss from 1-8 inches. In addition to being an anti cellulite treatment Ionithermie is the ideal treatment for those dieters who have successfully shed the pounds, yet still remain the classical pear shaped figure. It helps ‘spot reduction’ an improves the look of those stubborn areas: hips, thighs and tummy.

Cara says “Ionithermie is the best body toning system I have ever worked with! the results speak for themselves. People have been pre booking this treatment in order to get themselves ready for Christmas. It’s a fantastic way to help you feel more confident, not only about the look of your body but about the feel of your skin!”

Enhance Beauty of Grantham have secured another exclusive treatment and are proud to be bringing to Grantham a high tech, award winning, body inch loss treatment called Ionithermie (pronounced Ion i thermie).Cara from Enhance Beauty talks us through this New treatment.

Beauty ReviewI test out some beauty products and give you the low down!

I enjoyed putting on the cream every morning and night for one month, it leaves your skin feeling alot softer and smoother. It seemed to tighten my skin as opposed to reducing fat. I think for best results it should be used as part of a healthy diet and exercise programme.

so alice whats your background? When did you first get interested in Fashion?I actually come from an art background. I studied a Fine Art ND before completing my BA in Fashion. I always wanted to do something creative, and the choice was between music and fashion. I obviously ended up choosing fashion! I was always quite experimental with clothes, and I could never really find exactly what I wanted. It just seemed quite natural to become a designer.

What inspires and influences your creations?I’m inspired by so many different things, some real and some not quite so real. I’m inspired by nature but also by city culture and people. I have quite a vivid imagina-tion, and if I get the chance I love to sit outside and just sketch whatever comes into my mind. Music influences my designs quite a lot, it can make quite a visual impact on a garment or collection.

What’s your all time favourite film?Oh god, I think it’s probably Fear & Loathing in Las Ve-gas!!! It’s just so funny. I love comedies, or weird artistic films. Or a thriller thats so tense I actually find it hard to sleep afterwards!!

Have you got a favourite Quote?I’ve got a really scatty memory, and can’t really think of one particular quote that stands out in my mind... Oh dear!!

Who’s your favourite singer/Band?If you’d asked me this a few years ago I’d probably have a set person/band in my head! Now though I listen to completely different music depending on what mood I’m in. I love DnB and hip-hop mainly. I used to play the drums all the time, but I had to sell one of my drum kits recently as it was sitting there just not getting played. That day wasn’t a very good day!!

What makes you happy? The sunshine makes me happy, or seeing my friends. Also cocktails put a smile on my face!!! So basically,

an ideal day would be sitting in the sunshine with my friends and a drink in my hand!!

When you do get some free time how do you like to spend your time?Sleep. Literally!! I think I slept for about 17 hours the other day. I work so hard when I have a job on, and then I usually go out!! It’s great to catch up with my friends, but I usually finish one job and then start on the next. Free time is quite rare!!

if you had 3 wishes...what would you wish for?I REALLY want a palace in LA. I went there a few years ago and completely loved it.... That would be pretty amazing. But it would have to come complete with a white tiger. So thats the first.. I would also love a uni-corn for the second wish. There’s quite a theme going on here!!! I suppose I should wish for something more sensible??!! Ok so my third wish would probably be for more hours in the day!!

so what plans have you got for the future? I have a lot of plans for the future, mainly involving building my fashion business. I want to move to London next year so thats the next thing really. I always think there’s no point in making too many plans as you never know what is around the corner...

You’ve got some really fantastic designs and we are eagerly awaiting the online shop...please tell us a little more?Thank you!! My shop should go live really soon. I’m hoping it will be up by mid-end of November. A guy called Will from Mostly Mojo is working on it at the moment, he’s awesome so i’m pretty excited. Many of my garments are in London right now, but as soon as I have them back I can do all photoshoots and get the images online. The shop will work on a made to order basis, and there will also be the option or customised garments so the customer has more choice on what they want. I can’t wait to get it up and running!!

Our new resident makeup expert, Lisa Precious, reveals what the seasonal looks are this winter

MakeupBlog

This Autumn the catwalks have been full of animal prints, camels, purple and grey so it is no wonder that the cosmetic houses usually follow suit and this

season we are seeing sexy feline looks with a twist that are undoubtedly for the femme fatale in you. This month I have trawled those cosmetic counters and hand picked my personal favourite seasonal looks. For the daring, bold and the clubbers amongst you, Nars have created fabulous, vibrant shades this season. I am loving the captivating looks of Ispahan violet and Mangrove eyeshadows, £16 each, teamed with Rouge Basque semi matte lipstick, £17 topped with Scandal lip gloss, £17 for extra shine. Definitely a young look to wear at night when out on the prowl! My absolute favourite this season and suitable for the young and more mature lady is the oh so wearable Chanel Fall 2010 Les Contrastes De Chanel collection, elegant, timeless and very easy to wear.

The Enigma Quadra Eyeshadows, £35 are a beautiful combination of shimmering peach, chocolate, grey and violet grey and can be used with soft touch eyeshadow £19.50 in Taupe Grise, a chocolate grey for a more intense smoky eye. Wear with a sweep of Rose Temptation Blush £29 for that ‘ just came in out of the snow ‘ look to the cheeks. Lips are in flattering pinky corals, the new Rouge Coco formula lipsticks £21.50 offer 8 hours of hydration and comfort and look so pretty in Chinz Peach Rose or Rose Dentelle, if you prefer a gloss try Chanel Glossmer in Petite Peche, £19 for plumpness and shine. Not forgetting your fingernails! Keep them short and square and look out for the limited edition Chanel SoHo collection nail polishes, Steel and Strong £16.50 are the two to look out for but hurry as they will be in great demand and will sell out fast.

SUNDAY GIRLInterview by Samantha Barker

When Linsey (our editor at anne Louise), told me of an interview with Sunday Girl, I googled. Yes, an obvious point to start to research, but also invaluable as you can see how much media attention the musician/ band has already got and what the general consensus is. Comparisons to St etienne and ellie Goulding were floating about in online articles and blogs, but her press release unwittingly gave the best comparison for me and that was Ladyhawke. She has worked with the same producer, Jim elliot, but Jade Williams (her real name) does have something more styled and direct about her. this could come from her degree at Wimbledon College of art where she studied Set Design.the interview had been cancelled once, but I was keeping an open mind and wanted to find out a bit more about this Sunday girl, her style and her music…….

Hi Jade, I want to introduce you to our readers here at Anne Louise, your professional name is Sunday Girl, you decided on this name from working at a pet shop?

I worked in my local pet shop for years, at the weekends and nobody really knew my name, so I was nicknamed the Sunday girl and I quite liked it, it was quite anonymous. So yeah, I chose that as my stage name, that’s where it came from.

You’ve released two singles; ‘Self Control’ and ‘Four Floors’, with ‘Stop Hey’ (the official first single) being released in January 2011. You have also performed covers and you covered MGMT’s ‘Time to Pretend’ and filmed the video in a pet shop. I thought it was the perfect introduction to you and your talent: your voice. It must help creatively to have studied Set Design at Wimbledon – do you have much input into the set design of your videos?

Four floors was kinda my first thing I’ve ever done, in a way it was kind of a bit scary, you can really see when you get to Self Control, that’s me, that is my perfect video. I wrote a list down of all the things, of everything I loved. Together we kinda come up with that video and I think that really represents me well and that is my perfect video so you can really see how its developed from ‘Four Floors’ to ‘Self Control’.

Diplo remixed Four Floors and Rusko has remixed a version of Stop Hey. Do you think it is good to do remixes? It can offer an alternative tone to the song.

Yes I love the remixes and I do think it is really nice. As you say, it broadens your audience, I DJ as well, so it’s nice I can kinda chuck some of my songs in. Erm, yeah, it’s just nice to broaden your audience.

I saw on your blog that you DJ-ed with The Bombay Bicycle ClubI love that band! How does your DJ-ing influence your music?

I was song-writing before I was dj-ing, my dj-ing is quite a recent thing, one of my friends showed me how to do it. It is just nice to play all of my favourite songs. Yeah it was a thing after my song-writing. It is a lot of fun.

It must allow you to explore music and beats though, which feed your music?

It has given me a better understanding really of how, I think.. like you can see if a crowd likes a song. If me and my friend write a song, he kind of does all the computery, so I keep away from the kinda technical side. But with dj-ing it is kind of getting into that world a little bit.

Page 20: Anne Louise magazine

How did you get your big break – How did you get signed?

I was singing in a bar, a couple of years ago and a guy came up to me and he was a manager and he said oh can I manage you and put me in contact with a lot of songwriters and eventually I found a guy called Jim Elliot, who I really clicked with. Really I’ve written the whole album with him and so, he has written stuff for Kylie and Ladyhawke and so yeah when I wrote the track Stop Hey, which is my next single, we just got such a good reaction of the labels from that and I got signed to Geffen, so it was kind of that song then really.

You also have a really strong style and you are the new face for the River Island Design Forum, it must be really exciting having two outlets (fashion/modelling and music) that are successful?

I think that it’s what artists kind of do now, I think the River Island thing was great, it is all for new designers and I love that, I’m a new artist and we are kind of coming up together hopefully and I do a lot of my own art work. I do all the Sunday Girl stuff, the albums and the single covers and I designed all of that. It’s all linked, I can do a bit of art, and I write articles and I do the modelling, so it is a bit of everything really.

Do you think the cross over between fashion and music is good? Do you think that is a positive thing, or do you think it could actually dilute them. I personally think it is a really good thing…

I think it is all linked because like, you can express yourself through your clothes and your music and I love when you hear a band you see what they dress like, it’s all linked. My music is quite colourful, but I dress in a contrast of like black and white, monochrome and I like that contrast of colourful music and quite strict tailoring.

So you named Chanel as an influence......

Yeah, Coco Chanel, I love that kind of like dressing like a boy.

I saw on your blog that you really liked Brogues, that masculine tailoring and it gives a strong but feminine look.

I am a bit of a tomboy and when I have got my big hair and this tailored look that is what I like.

Do you have a wardrobe item, that you wear all the time or absolutely love?

I love my Brogues and my little loafers. I live in loafers, I love a good shirt, like a nice silk shirt, I love really nice fabric, because I dress quite plain, I love texture and I love starched collars. I love the Victorian era too.

You love taxidermy too? -on your website, there is taxidermy inspired backdrop. It is an interesting contrast to your music, but it links, it works – would you agree with that?

I think it is nice, my music is poppy, but I really do love Victoriana and taxidermy and I dress in a certain way and it is nice to express all of that. That is why I love the blog, because people can see all of that.

Your touring with Ellie Goulding and I just wondered if you were excited about that? – Some people have compared you to her. What do you think to that, do you like being compared to someone, is that a fair comparison?

I think, I can see where people are coming from, she is like, the girl next door, quite organic. How would you describe you new single, Stop Hey?

It’s quite uplifting but with sad undertones and I think it’s quite ballsy.

I for one would recommend a look at this up and coming star who has the right mix of style and talent to be popular and successful. Her voice offers a softly confident and atmospheric narrative to her electronic music and with remixes by the likes of Diplo (who’s remix of Sunday Girl’s Four Floors reminds me of that great electronic band; the Avalanches), her audience is sure to grow and grow….The melancholic and stylish ‘Stop Hey’ is released in January 2011, the video can be viewed on her myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/wearesundaygirl and on her website.Sunday Girl supports Ellie Goulding on Tour, due to play at Lincoln’s Engine Shed on the 8th of November and Nottingham’s notorious Rock City on the 9th of November.

TasTyVinTageTasty Vintage Boutique in Lincoln is a gorgeous haven of vintage textiles and accessories, carefully chosen from the 1920s to the 1970s.

9 Steep Hill | Lincoln | Tel: 01522 510524www.tastyvintage.com

TastyVintage is the result of years of collecting, please tell us how this hobby and passion of yours turned into a business?

I’ve collected vintage for as long as I can remember - I first remember buying an edwardian lace dress when I was about 12, and then got very into the 60s psychedelic stuff I saw on the front of my parents album covers... which I would seek out at jumble sales I sold at the odd festival in my teens, and then just continued to buy! After I had my first child in 2002 much of my personal vintage clothing didn’t fit, so I began to sell it off on ebay. By the end of my maternity leave I decided that rather than return to my office job, I would keep buying and selling vintage. That led on to me launching my website tastyvintage.com in 2006, my first shop in 2008, and then a move to the larger current premises on Steep Hill last Autumn.

It must be hard having to part with treasured pieces - or can you always maintain a strictly business mind? No, unfortunately I’m always going to be a collector first, and business woman second. I can only sell things sometimes once I’ve been able to say I’ve owned them for a good while! And some pieces I just won’t part with at all.

Kate Moss’s stylist once bought one of your dresses, which could show how the revival of vintage has become mainstream and people don’t seem to be as ‘snobby’ about wearing a piece of vintage clothing anymore, do you think this perception is true and if so, why has vintage suddenly become so popular? I’m not sure if it was her stylist, or whether it was a vintage buyer for a shop but yes; it was actually a wedding dress I’d sold as a study piece on ebay so I’m not surprised it didn’t stand up to a night out on the red carpet at the v&a! I think vintage has always been popular in certain circles, and I don’t doubt that our recent fascination with celebrities (and every aspect of what they wear, eat and say!) means that it makes wearing vintage more acceptable as a shopping alternative if our idols are doing it and looking great. I also think the eco-friendliness of vintage clothing is a huge draw for many people that are tired of sweat shop chainstore fashion. There are some skills, such as lacemaking, that have little prominence now, that vintage clothing captures during times when such techniques were more valued and popular. This must mean that the balance between the actual historical worth of a piece and getting the right price to sell to a customer who looks at it as a piece of current fashion, is a difficult aspect of Vintage clothing business?

It can be hard, and you see a wide range of buyers - from the ones who have no appreciation for the bespoke nature of a garment as it’s such an alien concept to them as they’re used to mass produced one-season fashion, to the one’s who marvel over the painstaking handstitching and techniques! I just try and put myself somewhere in the middle.

You are part of the Guild that represents vintage clothing - what does this mean?

The Vintage Fashion Guild (www.vintagefashionguild.org) is an international collective of vintage clothing sellers, historians, and collectors. Akin to other trade organisations, the members have to adhere to certain standards and practices. we also provide a free online resource of information regarding fashion history, and garment manufacturers in order for buyers and other sellers to date things accurately.

You’re website captures the whole essence of your shop and communicates the quality of the pieces, do you think engaging in such modern ways of selling and promoting your shop is the way to move forward

and positively represent Vintage Fashion?

Definitely. I think the market for vintage clothing is much wider now, and despite the fact my stock will always be dated there is no need for my approach to be! You are showing/ selling at Vintage at Goodwood (where Lily Allen is launching her fashion line) - are you excited about this? What exactly will you be doing there and have you got any favourite pieces that you are taking? I’ll be selling in the Vintage Marketplace, along with a wide variety of other vintage sellers. I am hugely excited, and not least because I will be able to shop too.. I think there will be more vintage in one place than I’ve ever

experienced to I will have to try not to buy more than I sell! I’ve tried to take a good mix of stock, with a few iconic pieces from each era. Fortied suits, fifties novelty print dresses with full skirts, sixties hotpant suits and pyschedelic minis.. the list is endless as I am terrible at choosing so i just take everything i like!

Vintage Fashion could be a way of improving the sustainability of the Fashion and Textile Industry - in effect recycling without compromising on style and could lead the way for the fashion industry - do you agree with this, do you think we could potentially see fashion designers using pieces of vintage clothing within their collections? Definitely, we already are. Design is constantly being recycled, and throughout the twentieth century you can clearly see the influences of previous era’s in fashion. The thirties revival in the 1970s, fifties in the eighties, sixties and seventies in the 1990s.. and we’re already back to the eighties and early nineties this season! History is a great resource, and I know a couple of the high street stores such as Oasis and Topshop have reproduced vintage items for the mainstream market. Personally I would

want the original, but as a way of introducing people to the idea of vintage I think it’s a good thing. Patricia Field of Sex and the City fame, is a stylist that loves using vintage clothing, what attributes do you think vintage clothing has that new fashions don’t?

If you open up your wardrobe to vintage clothing it’s almost like having an endless array of styles to choose from, as opposed to trying to pick something from the high street that’s currently in fashion and suits you.. not always easy! There’s something for every mood, every body shape, and there aren’t any rules. You can mix era’s and create a completely different look. And on top of that you have history, quality.. I’m obviously biased though! You have now got a Vintage Bridal collection (every girl’s dream!!), please tell us about it.

I’ve been collecting vintage bridal wear for about ten years now, and we decided it would be amazing to have a dedicated Vintage Bridal Salon at the shop. Viewings are by appointment only, and we have over 200 gowns dating from the turn of the century to the 1970s, as well as veils, headdresses, and other accessories. People are definitely seeing vintage as a very real alternative to a modern gown, and it seems very popular so far! Do you have any aims for TastyVintage in the future?

I’d love to expand the homeware and collectables side of things, as I have collected midcentury anything myself for years and am constantly passing up on things now as there’s nowhere left to put it at home... so watch this space! What is your current favourite piece? I have just bought a ridiculous block printed early 1980s jumpsuit with elasticated cuffs that smells of patchouli. It’s amazing. That and my Lamborghini print Ossie Clark suit.

The sun has returned home to your sign and you’ll feel its energy pour over every aspect of your life this month. Relish this time when your energy levels peak along with your popularity and there’s more than a little cosmic luck thrown in for good measure. This is also a great time to plan out your next 12 months.

Making things more pleasing to the eye is your forte, so sprinkle some that Libran magic at home. It’s certainly a good time to invest some time, and a little money, on improving your abode. If you’re newly single, I’d like to think you’ll enjoy this time and not go rushing in to anything new too quickly, but who am I kidding?

As your birthday month approaches, you’ll be in a spiritual frame of mind and looking to find peace with your lot in life. Do you feel that you are underselling your abilities? Being too much of a people pleaser? You are a dual sign and as such can be torn between taking the moral high ground and giving into baser instincts. How about a happy medium?

Astrologer Jason Caddy brings you your monthly horoscopesHOROSCOPESAries21 Mar - 21 April

Gemini21 May- 20 June

Cancer22 June - 23 July

Leo24 July - 23 Aug

Virgo24 Aug - 23 Sept

The sun is in the area of our chart that intensifies your personal magnetism, so you should have no problem winning people over to your way of thinking. Money and investments also come under scrutiny, as does whatever it is in this life that excites your passion. Don’t misuse this power or underestimate the benefits of joining forces with others.

You can be a smothering sign and your partner can, at such times, feel more like a commodity than your significant other. With the sun in your opposite sign, it’s your loved one’s needs that come to light and you are going to have to sit up and take note. Single? This time of year can be fruitful for making lasting connections.

Traditionally, this is the time of year when you put aside frivolity and get into work mode. This is usually accompanied by an upsurge in your interest over health matters. This is all very admirable, as long as you don’t expect your friends and family to jump on the bandwagon. You may be on your own.

You must strive to be happy this month and endeavour to let worries wash over you for once. Opportunity doesn’t always come with a side order of stress and strain, and you may overlook something vital if you don’t keep reminding yourself that your glass is half full and, on balance, life isn’t too bad at all.

Your bossy nature is well documented, but what is seldom talked about is your amazing generosity. This month sees you keep the home fires burning and wanting to treat kith and kin to anything from a low key dinner to a full blown party. Whichever you decide on will go smoothly, as you were born to organise.

You may have to make more small talk than you would normally this month in order to get to the nub of a problem. Follow hunches and fall back on your intuition when it comes to a close family member appearing like they need a little extra support, as chances are you’ll be onto something. Be there to prop up him or her.

Is an authority figure deliberately trying to hinder your progress at work? Don’t let this person get to you, and always remember that you are far more empowered – and dignified – in silence. If you have been looking for work, November is an excellent time for spotting the right career opportunities for you.

Unusual friends and interests that are a bit bonkers will attract you this month and strike up the rebel in you. Perhaps you are feeling a bit hemmed in and in need of some distraction from a rigid routine? Catching up with old friends in person can sometimes be as good for the spirit as a holiday, so get to it.

Legal matters may figure in your life in some way and you may find yourself in a position where you have to make a judgement call. You are naturally fair, so have faith in your abilities to arrive at a just decision. You fuse intellect and instinct like no other sign, so if both your heart and head are telling you something, you really should listen.
