Core Studio I: Tide Pools
This project derives its formal and programmatic elements from nature. Three pools accommodate both wet and dry programs, and lend themselves to formal and informal use. The gradual shifting of water from one pool to the next establishes a more abstract relationship with time than is normally experienced in the city, as well as recreating a temporal relationship with the sun, for light and heat. The variety of spaces offered by the building are to become an extension of nearby centers for children, seniors, and parents, al-lowing these organizations to offer new activities. It is the aim of this design to draw visitors to the site for both swimming and cultural functions.
Core Studio II: Culture Bank
Three stages of this project are shown, while they are being brought to completion througought the semester. The culture bank is a local manufacturing incubator in downtown Brooklyn.. The building hosts a bank, which invests in new manufacturing, and an exhibition center that connects the neighborhoods shifting present with its industrial past.

Installation and Drawings There is no purer form of measurement than the grid. As a subject I believe it appeals to our desire for order. For these pieces I spent a great deal of time with a simple grid in the form of 8x10 sheets of graph paper, finding in them form, and the potential for redistribution of space. In the topographic model to the right, the grid is transformed into a machine-like 3D rendering. In the series on the following pages, I have reorganized the squares and lines in multiple combinations. The second set of drawings in this section depict non-literal forms constructed from one repeated mark. The mark used in each image is of equal importance with the image as whole, being not a traditional mark but an irregular shape that combines to easily form a radial or linear slanted trajectory. This process was shaped through the habit of repeatedly filling in the punch mark in my free sandwich card to make drawings without lines. Eventually I decided to make the game intentional by creating my own small templates and applying them to studies in light. The process leads to a temporal quality, exaggerating sight through atmospheric perspective.
