Quick Start Guide: Animoto

• Animoto is currently FREE for educators, but you must apply for an account.

• Registration is not always immediate, so plan ahead.

To Create an Educator Account•Go to www.animoto.com/education

•Click on Apply Now

Click on New User? Sign up now

Complete Account Information

Complete the Education Application

You do not have to enter this!

OPTIONAL!!

You will receive an approval message at your school email.

Copy the code so you can paste it later.

Signing up for the Free All Access Account

• Once you have received your teacher code (promotional code), go to http://www.animito.com and click on Sign Up in the upper right hand corner of the page.

• Click on the Sign Up button under the All Access Account (it says $30).

• Click the “Sign up today” link.

• Enter the required information and CLICK ON THE “do you have a promo/referral code?” link.

WooHoo!!!!•You now have created an educator account!

To Create Class/Student Accounts

•Go to www.animoto.com/education

•Click on Apply Now

•Click on New User? Sign up now

To Create Student Accounts

•Complete the Account Information• You can use generic email addresses and student

names

For Example:

First Name: Student Last Name: One email address –student1@gmail.com

• Date of birth –must be at least 13 years old

• Enter the referral code you received when signing up for the educator’s account to ensure student accounts have full access.

Student Access and Use• Students will use YOUR Animoto educator code

to sign up for Animoto. Enter the referral code you received at your school email.

• This will give YOU access to any project they make.

• I recommend setting up a set of class accounts Make up “fake” gmail accounts and passwords and assign each student an account. WRITE THIS DOWN somewhere you will be able to find it!

For example student87654@gmail.com

Password: myclass

• Make up your own emails and password.

Complete the account sign up for each student account.

Create a video:

• Click on Create Video located in the top right of your screen.

Adding Video• Choose your video style (you can preview any

of the styles).

• Upload images and/or short video clips.

Adding Video• You can use images and/or short video clips.

Adding Text

• Text can be added as a transition or for information. You cannot add text to an image.

• Powerpoint slides can be imported into Animoto.

• Add any effects such as spotlighting (the image will last longer in the video.)

Click done and choose music. They have lots with no copyright problems! All tracks allow you to

preview.

Customize the video: image speed, video length, video style.

ALMOST DONE!

• Add a title and description if desired.

• Click create video.

Videos are rendered whether you are online or not. The process is not instantaneous, so plan on waiting. You will be e-mailed notification of your finished product or you can go the animoto.com site at any time to access your videos.

Share, edit or remix your videos by clicking on the video of your choice and clicking on the “Toolbox” button located on the bottom right under your video.
