Major components of an Agriculture Instruction Program

• Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE)– Provides opportunities to explore interests and to gain work

experience

• Class– Studying and learning subject matter in the classroom

environment

• Lab– Learning by demonstrations and practice in shops,

greenhouses, nurseries and other settings

• FFA– The organization that develops leadership and citizenship skills.

This organization focuses on premier leadership, personal development and career success

Opportunities

• Program of Activities (POA)– A list of what the organization wants to do, it

helps in setting goals, developing plans and steps to reach those goals

– Helps in setting goals and developing plans and steps to reach those goals

• Agenda– Ways to accomplish a mission

• The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of its members by developing their potential for premiere leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education

Objective 6.01: Examine the role of parliamentary law in the

conduction of business.

• Parliamentary Procedure– An organized method of carrying out a

business meeting which assures that all sides of an issue are treated fairly and that everyone has an opportunity to discuss and vote

Main Objectives of Parliamentary Law

• Focus on one item at a time– Helps prevent confusion

• Extend courtesy to everyone– Recognize before speaking

• Observe the rule of the majority– Keeps unpopular ideas from being adopted

• Ensure the rights of the minority– All sides can make motions, second motions,

discuss and vote

Voting Methods

• Voice– Aye or No

• Standing– Stand or raise hand

• Secret Ballot– Write vote on paper

• Roll Call– Give vote when secretary asks

Voting Methods

• Majority Vote– One vote more than 50% or ½ of the votes

cast– Used for most motions– Out of 30…. 16 must vote

• 2/3 Majority Vote– 2/3 of the members voting must vote for a

motion, usually used when the motion will limit the rights of the members
