PVC Waterstops are manufactured in our premises, by shapingunder appropriate temperature and pressure in extruders, of themixture containing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin having high K valueas the main polymeric material, various catalysers (plastifiants),stabilizers, antioxidants and special chemical materials ensuring highquality values, colouring agents, hardeners and plasticizers.
Purpose Of UseJoints are to be introduced in concrete and reinforced concrete
structures. Expansion joints are the joints left in some parts of thereinforced structured elements in order to avoid damages that mayarise from expansion and settlement in the structures. Expansionjoints shall be introduced in order to prevent the deformation resultingfrom a decrease in volume as the cement finishes its solidification,destroy the structure. As known the expansion and elongationmovements in the structures are not negligible in size and arecontinuously repeating.Additionally,because of the movements orcompression of the ground under the structure, a downwardmovement, a settlement, occurs. On the other hand, joints introducedperpendicular to the direction of pressurized stresses where thecasting of concrete is stopped for a while and restarted are defined asconstruction joints. Joints in the structure exhibits contraction becauseof the thermal expansions and ground movements.Such joints aredefined as contraction joints.
Because of the above mentioned reasons,in order to avoiddeformation in concrete structures experiencing various horizontal andvertical movements and to ensure impermeability of such buildings,PVC Waterstops are used within the expansion joints introduced in thestructure.

Selection of Bands
In the selection of PVC Plastic Waterstops to be used in concreteworks,it shall be known that the water stop bands are to be usedwhether for acquiring impermeability or for avoiding transfer ofmotion or for both applications. If the building is to resist high waterpressure at the base,PVC Plastic Waterstops to be used in joints mustbe applied on the surface of the concrete that comes into contact withwater so as to avoid leakage of water trough the joints . If no waterpressure is in question at the base and it is intended to avoid transferof dynamic motions along the joints,central type PVC Waterstopsmust be used at the centre of the cross-section of the concreteblock.If the construction is built over the earthquake zone or atplaces where settlement is expected intensively,suitable band typesmust be selected so as to absorb extra tension occurred and to resisttransversal tensions.Table A shows band types and their applicationplaces.

Determination Of Size
After the selection of the appropriate band type according to thecriteria given in Table A, following conditions must be taken intoconsideration while determining the size of the waterstop bandtype to be used in the joint:Concrete construction, thickness of concrete, width ofjoint, degree of motion ( i.e. expansion, contruction,settlement) of the joint, value of water pressure.Waterstops having higher wall thickness among those selectedshall be used at places where the ground motion is remarkable(especially where the earthquake risk exists), where the motionssuch as expansion, contractions, settlement and where waterpressure is high.It is advisable to take into account the below mentioned formulaswhile selecting the width cut length of the waterstop band.

Uygun isiya gelenkaynak lamasi iki bantm aim yuzeyleri arasma yerles,tirilir ve her ikiparc,anm kahp icjnde kalan uglarmin erimesi beklenir. Erirne gozle iyikontrol edilmeli ve yanik olmamasma dikkat edilmelidir. Erime fazlaolursa komiirle§me meydana gelir. Sututucu bantm yeterinceerimesinden sonra kahp acjlarak lama cikarihr ve derhal iki bantmucu birbirine bastmlarak siki§tinhr. Kaynak yapilan yerin sogumasiicjn bir sure beklenir (2odakika). Bu sirada kaynak lamasi tel firga iletemizlenmelidir. Soguma bitince kaynak kahbi yerinden c.ikanhr.Kaynagm diizgiin olup olmadigi gozle kontrol edilir. Yanikolmamasma ozellikle dikkat edilmeli ve bu durumlarda bant uc,lariyeniden kesilerek kaynak tekrar yapilmahdir, aksi halde su sizmtisimeydana gelebilir. Talebiniz halinde termostat kontrollu kaynakmakinasi ve ahsap kahplar fabrikamizdan temin edilir.
Depolanmasi
InstallationJoint brow form works prepared for pouring 1st layer of cement must
be in 2 parts and the waterstop bands must be placed in between thetwo parts of formwork. For full impermeability. Attention must begiven to have no foreign objects such as dust, concrete particles thatmay reduce adherence at the surface water stop bands and to have fullcoverage of cement around water stop band. Cement must be inadequate consistency and attention must be given to have no porosityand vibration must be performed adequately at these places.
Special Products With ReinforcementFittings At The Edge
In order to be fitted to the reinforcement after the placement insidethe formwork, PVC Waterstops are manufactured, upon request, withfitting holes 50 cm apart at the edges of both sides.
Welding ProcessPVC Waterstops are attached by welding (melting) system as their
cross sectional surfaces face to each other. Equipments required forthis application is listed below:
Welding Plate: Copper or brass plate of minimum 5 mm inthickness suitable to be heated thermostatically with electricity or inthe absence of electricity with butane gas.
Wire Brush, Model Knife and Welding Mount: Wooden oraluminum prepared for a specific type of waterstop band.
Welding Process: Corresponding edges of waterstops are cutstraight with a model knife. Both bands are placed in the weldingmount. While doing so, the brow faces of both bands must becontacted. Welding plate must be heated to 200 °C - 220 °C withthermostatic heaters after being cleaned by a wire brush. In weldingprocesses where butane gas burners are used, heating must be madeto 200 °C. Welding plate of adequate temperature is placed inbetween the brow faces of both bands and kept there until the meltingof edges of both bands held inside the mount. Melting must bechecked by eye in order to avoid any burning. If melting is excessivethen carbonization may occur. After sufficient melting of waterstopband mount is opened and the plate is removed. And immediately theedges of both bands are pressed to each other and squeezed. A periodof time (20 minutes) is waited until the cooling is over. In themeantime, welding plate is cleaned with the wire brush. After thecooling is over, welding mount is removed. It is visually and manuallychecked whether the welding is done properly. Any burning isspecifically avoided. In such as cases the edges of bands are re-cut andre-welded. Otherwise water leakage may occur. Upon your requestwelding machine with thermostastic control and wooden mounts areprovided byus.
