Dear Parishioners and Friends of Holy Angels,
“Rejoice in the Lord always, again, I say rejoice!” We em-
phasize rejoicing because the Lord is nearly arriving. Never,
since being HA pastor, have I looked to receiving sustenance
more from the spiritual aspect of rejoicing as I do this Advent
Season. We have suffered a record number of five deaths in
less than a week of four parishioners, two from one family, and another Catholic whose daughter is a parishioner and
whose funeral Monday, Dec. 7, was the first of those to come.
We pray for these families and all families who are experienc-
ing grief at the holidays.
If any of you know persons or households in our parish that have experienced a sad reversals of fortune in various
ways, but may be reluctant to come forward to receive some
much needed help to get through the end of the year, to take
care of bills and other necessary expenses, or in need to make
any kind of Christmas celebration for their household, please
do let me know or contact our Charity Coordinator, Joyce Bowlin, as we would review it to see if we can help them be-
fore Christmas with our Guardian Angel fund.
I hope that you will consider giving in to rejoicing more
fulsomely in a holiday spirit by going online at the William
Baker Festival Singers website to make a reservation for one of their concerts here next weekend.
Our parish’s prime charity project this Advent, Christmas
Season and End of Year is our participation in the Archdioce-
san Capital Campaign One Faith, One Family, One Future
in Christ. It is noted herein showing the great generosity of
parishioners in a thermometer showing the pledges and mon-ies already contributed to date, $352,608.00, according to the
campaign representative who offered that number. Thank you
to all who offer prayers, donations and pledges. This outreach
goes to the good of all Catholics in our Archdiocese by our
shoring up the infrastructure of the Archdiocese and allowing for it to work much more efficiently and to the greater good of
more people for decades
to come.
Finally, if you have
not done so of late,
prayerfully give consider-able thought by next
weekend to giving your-
self a spiritual lift by re-
ceiving the mercy, bless-
ings, and graces of a good Sacramental Confession
either here or elsewhere.
Advent Blessings in the
Heart of the Christ Child!

Did You Know?
At each of the Masses this weekend, Father blessed
the Baby Jesus figurines (Bambinelli) that children
brought with them to Mass from a nativity scene in
their homes. This joyful tradition began in the city of
Rome more than 30 years ago, when Roman children were invited to bring their Bambinelli to be blessed by
the Pope during the noon Angelus prayer. This is the
fourth year of the Bambinelli blessing at Holy Angels.
In 2009, (then) Pope Benedict XVI offered this reflec-
tion regarding the custom:
"The blessing of the 'Bambinelli' [Baby Jesus figurines]
as they are called in Rome, reminds us that the crib
is a school of life where we can learn the secret of true
joy. This does not consist in having many things but
in feeling loved by the Lord, in giving oneself as a gift
for others and in loving one another. Let us look at
the crib. Our Lady and St Joseph do not seem to be a very fortunate family; their first child was born in the
midst of great hardship; yet they are full of deep joy,
because they love each other, they help each other
and, especially, they are certain that God, who made
himself present in the little Jesus, is at work in their story. And the shepherds? What did they have to re-
joice about? That Newborn Infant was not to change
their condition of poverty and marginalization. But
faith helped them recognize the 'babe wrapped in
swaddling clothes and lying in a manger' as a 'sign' of
the fulfilment of God’s promises for all human beings, 'with whom he is pleased' (Lk 2: 12, 14)."
THANK YOU from CWO A great big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our Christmas Angel Tree Program this year. Your
generosity was overwhelming, especially with the pan-
demic. Whether you purchased a gift, cleaning sup-
plies, toiletries, or gave us a cash donation, CWO and
our 41 adopted adults and children thank you from
the bottom of our hearts. May God bless you and your families with a joyous
Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.
CWO would also like to thank everyone who pur-
chased a quilt raffle ticket or a Christmas plant from
us this year. Your generosity is truly appreciated.
CWO meeting and gift exchange will be Tuesday,
December 15 at 7:00pm in the Parish Hall.
Please bring a $15 gift to exchange.

INVITATION TO PRAY FOR YOUNG MEN
ON RETREAT You are invited to pray for young
men who are on a vocation retreat. The annual
Quo Vadis discernment retreat is next weekend,
December 18-20, at Savior Pastoral Center. This
retreat is for single men high school juniors and
older, who have been invited to immerse them-
selves in liturgies, prayer, and time with Archdi-
ocesan seminarians who are discerning their
own call from the Lord. There will be a panel of
priests and seminarians to share their discern-
ment stories and experiences, and time with
Archbishop Naumann. Fr. Dan Morris, Vocation
Director, is expecting 50 attendees, including 1
from Holy Angels. He is inviting parishioners to
pray for the young men attending, and for those
presenting during the retreat. You are encour-
aged to set aside time in the adoration chapel or
at home to pray during the weekend. However,
there are three important times Fr. Morris would
appreciate your prayers: Friday, Dec. 18, 7–
7:45pm; Saturday, Dec. 19, 9–9:45am and
Sunday, Dec. 20, 9–10am. Thanks to all who
will be using the power of prayer to support
vocations to the priesthood in our Archdiocese.
