    ANGEL 7.4 Advanced Gradebook

    ANGEL has a setting for a more advanced/newer look for the gradebook. This will go through the steps

    for maneuvering and using the new gradebook.

    1) Turn on the new look by clicking on the Manage tab2) Click on Environmental Variables

    3) Click Edit next to Enable_Grading_Terms(note: if this option isnt available, you will need to add it)

    4) Change the Variable value from 0 (zero) to 1 (one)

    5) Press Save

    6) Press Exit Course Variables7) Click Gradebook in the Manage Console

    NOTE: If prompted to use the wizard, press skip for the purposes of this training.

    Youll see that the Gradebook has changed looks

    Now lets go step by step, feature by feature for each item.

    Categories

    1) Click on Categories

    2) To create a new category, click in the blank text box and fill in each of the blanksa. Title: The name of the category (ex. Homework)b. Weight: How many points/what percentage of the total grade is this worthc. Format: Letter Grade, Percentage, Point, etc.d. Release Date: Do you want to restrict students from seeing this gradebook item until a

    specific date

    e. Calculation: Are you using all of the grades, dropping the lowest x number of grades orusing the highest x number of grades

    f. Add Item: Add this to the Gradebook

    3) When done, click on the Gradebook Menu link in the top right corner

    Rearranging Categories

    1) Go to Categories and click on the Rearrange option at the top of the screen

    2) As the directions indicate, click and drag the items in the list to the desired order location youwish them to appear and press save.

    Assignments

    1) Click on Assignments

    2) To create a new Lesson, click in the blank text box and fill in each of the blanksa. Title: The name of the category (ex. Homework)b. Term: Leave this as defaultc. Category: Choose the category that corresponds to the assignment (exam for an exam,

    etc)

    d. Format: Leave as defaulte. Release Date: Do you want to restrict students from seeing this gradebook item until a

    specific date

    f. Select Content: Is this grade item connected to a lesson item in the course? If so,choose which item.

    g. Add Item: Add this to the Gradebook3) When done, click on the Gradebook Menu link in the top right corner

    Rearranging Assignments

    1) Go to Assignments and click on the Rearrange option at the top of the screen

    2) As the directions indicate, click and drag the items in the list to the desired order location youwish them to appear and press save.

    Assignment Wizard

    Assignment Wizard is used to take all, or selected items from your course content items from your

    Lessons area and import them into your Gradebook.

    1) Click on Assignment Wizard

    2) Choose from the content items in the list (to expand your list, turn the + to a by clicking on it)by clicking in the little squares. If you would like all items to appear in your gradebook, click

    Select All

    3) Click Next Step

    4) Adjust Categories, names, and Points as desired and press Finish.

    OTHER Setup Tasks

    Grade Scale: Complete this if you are using letter grades in your course.

    Grade Labels: This can be used for pass/fail type grading. Example, in order to pass your class, students

    must receive at least an 86%. You can set it up so the students know exactly how they are doing without

    you having to go in and calculate it.

    Grade Reports: This area gives you a means of filtering out only specific data you want from the

    gradebook, like all students who performed below expectations on an exam, or havent turned in a

    homework assignment. It lets you save the report so you can run it at will.

    Gradebook Preferences

    This hasnt changed as much; however, it is more user-friendly now.

    The LWTC eLearning Team recommends that if you will need to edit the weights of your Categories, you

    leave the settings as percentages rather than points as this option is not available with Gradebook Mode

    points
