3.What is the Open Handset Alliance (OHA)? • Devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices.
• Develop technologies that will significantly lower the cost of developing and distributing mobile devices and services.
4. Android Version History:
Since April 2009 it’s version has been developed under a codename based on dessert or sweet treats.They are in alphabetical order:-

Based on Linux kernel 2.6.27,the official 1.5 (cupcake) was released on 30th April 2009.
A new soft-keyboard with text-prediction.
Ability to record & watch videos through camcorder mode.
Directly upload videos to youtube and pictures to Picasa.

6.Advantages & Disadvantages 6.1Advantages:1 Cost Effective-
The first thing about Android is its cost.But with the low price now they can go for Android phones with good design and lot of applications which is not possible with the Apple,Blackberry and some.
2 Multitasking-Android has a multitasking option so you can run many
applications simultaneously.
3 Easy Access of Store-So the store is in the home screen which is easy to access
the applications.
6.2 Disadvantage:1 Security-
Making source code available to everyone indirectly invites the attention of black hat hackers.
2 Battery Life-A disadvantage of open-source development is that anyone
can scrutinize the source code to find vulnerabilities & write exploits.
3 Virus Applications-Few Android Applications contain virus also present in
the AndroidMarket.Due the lack of Quality Standard many applications contain viruses which makes your mobile hung.
7.Conclusion
Android is truly open, free development platform based on Linux and open source.Handset makers can use & customize the platform without paying a royalty.
Android is open to all: industry, developers and users.
Participating in many of the successful open source projects.
Aims to be as easy to build for as the web.
Google Android is stepping into the next level of Mobile Internet.
