A set of kernel modifications and user-space tools that can be added to various Linux distributions. It has been integrated into the mainline Linux kernel since version 2.6, on 8 August 2003. For now, SELinux is configured in Permissive mode only, meaning that policies are not enforced, and violations are just being logged. 8. DAC V/S MAC Discretionary Access Control (DAC) : Each user decides which of his own files is accessed (read, written, or executed) by other users In Android systems, each app is assigned a different user ID, thereby isolating and protecting the application data from all other applications Mandatory Access Control (MAC) : It is based on security labels. Subjects are given a security clearance and data objects are given a security classification. Hence, SELinux allows varying levels of trust to each app and dictates what kind of data an app can access. Moreover, the superuser also needs to abide by the security policies. 9. KEYCHAINS AND KEYSTORE PROVIDERS Earlier, attackers who could root a device were able to retrieve cryptographic credentials from any device and use them to gain unauthorized access to highly sensitive networks. Android 4.3 adds new system calls that allows developers to bind encryption keys used to access sensitive information and resources to a certain piece of hardware. The private keys can not be exported to another device, even if the device is compromised (stolen/rooted). 10. SIMPLIFIED SETUP WIZARD Now a user can change the information that was keyed- in during the first boot of the device. Faster user switching - switching users from the lock screen is now faster. Disabled apps tab has now been introduced. 11. BLUETOOTH AVRCP Google devices running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean can sync with Bluetooth enabled car stereos and offer additional functionality. The Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 version allows stereos to display metadata such as song names when music is being streamed from an Android 4.3 device. 12. Google has now increased the location accuracy of Android devices by allowing location scanning via Wi-Fi. It now allows apps to get location data through Wi-Fi even when Wi-Fi is set to off and not being used for data access. LOCATION ACCURACY FEATURES VIA WI-FI SCAN ONLY MODE 13.
