They’re all the same question.
What they really want to know is, “Tell us about you.”

“My mother is the person who made me who I am today. She brought me into this world, and raised me by herself. She works an overnight job to pay our rent and put food on our table. She is the most important person in my life.”

Remember: Tell them about you…

Has a good “hook” to open up. Discusses an epiphany – a moment you
realized something. Uses specific examples and details. There is a before and after (the epiphany). Explains how you have grown and are different. Tells us something that we wouldn’t know from
the transcript. Spelling and grammar are perfect. Captures your true voice.

Not answering the question. (Remember, it’s about you!)
Spelling, grammar, punctuation— “I was working as a counselor and I took my kids to the pork.”
Too long/too short. Not taking enough time. It doesn’t sound like you.
What are some common mistakes?
