Born in 1985 and resident in Aracaju, Brazil until 2004, John Ventura - João Alberto de Melo Silveira – has a degree in music and piano teacher at the Bahia Federal University, and has his approach to the noble art from cradle.

The grandfather, besides being reputable crooned nightclubs in Salvador and Rio de Janeiro city, in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, he works as a producer at Som Livre and Philips studios in the 1970s and 1980s, having discovered the great names of MPB, such as Djavan and Jorge Ben. John Mello was his name. In addition to achievements as a singer and producer, the artist had more than 100 recorded songs, some of those were sung by MPB 4, Djavan, Zeca Pagodinho, João Donato and Baden Powell.

These last two João Donato and Baden Powell have been great partners in music and the artist's life. Going back to John Ventura and his roots; his mother was a dancer of the Municipal Theater of Niterói, in addition to being a great singer and art encouraging. The father, a skilled guitarist of popular songs, is a big music enthusiastic in his most expressive forms. John was born in this favorable environment. risking adding in some chords, all this happened at age of four. It was then decided that the boy should get the music studies. They invited the musician Lina Souza to start John musically, both in contact with scores as the exploitation of their predisposition for art. The choice of the teacher was perfect, since Lina carrying wide music knowledge and had a remarkable experience in the musicalizacion category. She presented to John an overview of art with no strings attached, guiding him and looking for a way to free his artistic expression. At age of seven, he started studying classic music with teacher Paulo César Prado, taking weekly lessons until thirteen years of age. Gradually, the artist began to play the guitar, taking advantage of his father's guidance and learning songs by ear. Despite having stopped the piano study in adolescence, Ventura never lost contact with the instruments. Then the piano and the guitar were part of the boy's adolescence, which gradually discovered he could sing. He began to exercise this gift in the wheels of friends

up to the interpretation of his songs in the contest festivals. In almost all contests that he participated was one of the finalists. In the Sescanção contest of 2007, the artist won first place.

In 2008, Ventura record his first CD with the title “ Was Declared Samba”. The album features 14 tracks copyright, almost all in the samba stile. The album's release took place on January 16, 2009 in the theater Lourival Baptista - in Aracaju city - with full house and press all over the event. To this day, the local people can hear the songs of this first work on the city radio. The first song on the album, called Samba Was Declared, was the finalist for Unifeste contest at the Bahia Federal University in Salvador. For “Falls” and “Olivia Sambou”, two other songs from the same disc, were finalists in the Banese Music Prize.

At the time of the exams for college, the musician decided to study marketing and advertising in Rio de Janeiro. He actually did not graduate. So, he transferred his studies to Salvador to find that he could not be anything besides a musician. So he did entry the exams at Bahia Federal University and graduated then completed his master's degree. In Salvador city at fall, John recorded his second authorial disc, entitled Chega Mais, which is basically a mixture of pop music with the percussividade characteristic of Bahia. The album gained notoriety on the local scene, and was finalist of the song Coffee Educator FM Festival. With this work, Ventura aroused the interest of several producers of Bahia. Also in Salvador, the artist was co founder of Kromosons project, and alongside with André Magalhães. They decided to combine their skills for the benefit of a consistent and diversified production. Work together, for them meant the fusion of a musician-arranger and audiovisual producer with a pianist, guitarist, singer and songwriter. You cannot label the group's sound; there is no flag, the reason is only quality music. Another strong feature of the project is the artistic fusion, promoting meetings with other musicians who appear to add up and give even more color to Kromosons. In the first video released from the project, as can be seen the participation of great musicians such as Mokhtar Samba, renowned African drummer in the world; Dan Reckard, saxophonist and natural pianist of Los Angeles; Michael Pipoquinha, promising bass player who is emerging on the national scene; Denise de Macedo, Brazilian singer who has been making his name in Europe; Carla Casarim finalists of The Voice Brazil III; Ellen Oléria champion of The Voice Brazil I, among many others. Despite the short time of existence of the Kromosons, two songs were classified into festivals, "Carousel" - the first group of the clip song - was selected and finalist in Caymmi Music Award and "Zero to Three" - music that he composed on the

second clip - won 2nd place in the FEM (Music Festival in São José do Rio Preto). The link to check everything that was recorded related to Kromosons, is as follows: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU1_TG3SzukzRKf3qW2b_4Q

In July 2015, John Ventura was approved in the selection doctorate in piano in Lisbon, where he currently resides.

COUNTERPOINT

Introduction

In the last seven years João call himself the popular musician. During the study of classical music as a child, the artist established a strong contact with "street music", distancing himself from formal studies. The approach, especially with the samba, became increasingly intimate with the music of Chico Buarque, Djavan, Tom Jobim and was establishing itself in the music artist training. To pass the entrance exam at Bahia Federal University, Ventura did some questions that revolved around the following dilemma: the orientation of the university course was erudite, but he - as already mentioned - was popular. As the course unfolded, these issues were rejected, as John discovered how the "erudite touch" scholar could help its popular music. Access to various techniques and sound ranges from "classical" music and would increase his artistic life. Contact with the new was so exacerbated that by the third year of studies, the thing practically reversed. The popular musician was devoted almost entirely too classical music. He participated in several competitions and seminars around the Brazil and came to think of the concert

. Draw parallels between the most diverse musical trends, producing a sound material and, above all, cohesive.

. Demonstrate a modern and Brazilian pianistic language, supported in-depth study of popular and classical music.

JUSTIFICATION

The importance of such project is given by two main factors: sound renovation and stylistic fusion. The renewal occurs at the time the composed music combined in different periods, without any discrepancies. To make arrangements, John arranges a meeting between different styles, worrying about the compositional harmony between them. For example: one of the readings includes a blend of Folly, Tom Jobim, and the Moonlight Sonata, Beethoven. The unrequited passion of Beethoven by a woman - which was the motivating center of the sonata - carries a deep sentimentality and a striking dramatic charge. The same is seen in "Follies." The letter speaks of a breakup, where someone left heartbroken and want a reconciliation, which it seems, does not quite happen. These loves "impossible" are part of the universe of these two songs, which, combined, produce a meeting between Tom Jobim and Beethoven, stirring all the sublime sorrow sung by the Brazilian maestro, combining the dramatic dismay of the German genius. After these findings, it is part of the structural comparison between the two works. After some melodic and harmonic adjustments, finally comes a new song.

On the stylistic fusion, it is essential to the paradigm shift. Combine the Libertango,

Piazzolla, with foam to the wind, of Accioly Neto, carefully cited in the previous paragraph, it is challenging and audacious. It is a work that, if done carelessly, it may sound like a new implementation of the new one. The intention is not this, but rather to develop a survey for the design of the arrangements, approaching distinct streams in order to create a new sound and to promote the coexistence of diverse styles in the same space of time.

It is noteworthy that the project "Counterpoint" does not count only with specific combinations of classical and popular music. In some arrangements, the national song is mixed with accompaniment patterns derived from the classical, romantic, impressionist along with others. In addition, there are more combinations, for example, balloon with parsley, samba jazz, among others.

METHODOLOGY

On the methodology, it is the depth study of several works of classical and popular repertoire in order to draw a parallel between songs of different periods. That done, it is necessary an accurate analysis of the harmonies and melodies of the songs you want to mix. Complete this step, you see it is whether or not design the arrangement. Undoubtedly a thorough job that requires research and common sense to produce a rich and innovative sound, away from the possible discrepancies that could cause such stylistic fusions.

career, to glimpse the trip to Europe to further study. By the end of the course, Ventura began to miss his Brazilian music. That formal study not filled completely. In this way, the artist returned to dedicate to the guitar, keeping his Brazilian stale in the piano and returned to sing.

AND NOW? POPULAR OR ERUDITE?

What was considered dichotomy by most artists was transformed into complementarily. John joins the two chains (popular and classical) seeking to extract the very best in both. Moreover, the artist proposes a sonic mixture in which two or more different styles coexist in perfect harmony in the parts that it performs, always providing a scholarly touch their interpretations with respect to the shape and sound. In this context, the project "Counterpoint" emerged.

GOALS

. Merge several streams and, consequently, provide a completely new sound to the audience.

. Breaking the paradigm of dichotomy music.

. To produce a consistent sound, enriched by the Brazilian swing combined with the learning of classical music.

RELEASE

At the age of four, the boy realized that there is a piano in the living room of their home. The enchantment was instantaneous. Within days, he has asked his father tips on playing a few simple songs. To everyone's surprise, a few months after the presentation of the two, John and piano, was heard from the kitchen, the tune of "La Bamba" and "was a Boy", at a time when the national and international rock enjoyed all prestige in Brazilian territory. Parents rushed to see what they already knew: the boy had assimilated the songs and was able to play and

risking adding in some chords, all this happened at age of four.
