The codes and conventions evident on this advertising billboard are a masthead (which is also a brand), main, eye- catching images and a twitter name and hashtag. The masthead doesn’t really grab attention as much as the other billboard in terms of being large and bold however, it does still catch peoples eyes as Topshop is a well known fashion retailer therefore it doesn’t need to be big to catch peoples attention. The main images are attracting as they are in white boxes in contrast to the black background, therefore it shows colour blocking which this whole billboard is about. The images are also quite prominent on the billboard and take up most of it. There is also a twitter name of Topshop at the bottom to encourage people to follow them on twitter, and therefore gain more customers. The billboard is also placed quite high up in a busy area so more people can view it from far away. The primary audience of this billboard is younger people and students who have a high disposable income to spend on clothes and fashion. good market research as they then know how to effectively advertise to their consumers.
