How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Above is our poster/advert and our digipak for our Ancillary task. This power point is to show how we got these effects and how we managed to get the final products. so when creating the advert and digipak we considered the audience and genre of the band. Now looking at the final products I am really pleased with the way they’ve turned as they’ve got all the right factors.

Front Cover Ideas...

Our front cover for Fire Drive Tigers Digipak, was created by Katherine and myself. We decided that we were going to link the tiger/feline theme into the front cover, as you can see, we’ve got the tiger logo in the background ever so faintly, but not so hidden away. We both researched album covers and have decided to combine two well known album covers to create our front cover, with a Fire Drive Tiger twist. Katherine and I are both really happy with the way the front cover has turned out.

...Continued

Form looking at both of the images on the left, you can see that Katherine and I have taken the ideas to have a four way separators at the front cover, with the bands portraits in each sector. The reason why we’ve done this is so from looking at the albums front cover you can identify that its the band just from looking at the band members. This also helps give Fire Drive Tiger recognition for the bands image.

...Continued Katherine and I decided to put the bands name on the front cover of

the album, Katherine got the font from a website (www.dafont.com) which gains you access to a variety of different fonts. I like how the font stands out from the background images, so it isn’t as clumsy as other album covers I have seen in the past. Katherine came up with the idea to insert the tiger logo in the background but to have it slightly transparent so it isn’t so in your face but its each to recognise. The reason why Katherine came up with this idea as in the music video we made there are a couple of shots where the logo appears.

The left insert of the digipak.

From looking at both the images to the left you can see that Katherine and I have taken a few ideas for our left insert page from “The Libertines” poster. I like how the band are casually walking towards the camera, Katherine and I challenged this by having the band looking into the camera but got the band to not look so boring and made them all stand in different positions. When the images were finally taken we changed the colours and contrasts to match the house colours, which is red, orange, black and white.

The Right Insert.

The right insert page of the Digipak is going to consist of the band’s logo as the CD holder. Katherine and I decided that this would be a good idea as the logo is rounded, so the CD would sit correctly over the logo. We also decided that the colours were bright and striking, which matches Fire Drive Tigers persona and genre. Also we like how the tiger logo links through all of the pages of the Digipak.

The Back Cover.

Rhianna’s album cover for “Good Girl Gone Bad” is our main influence for our back cover, Katherine and I love how the body of Rhianna is curvy and creates a form of silhouette. Katherine and I like how it is very simple yet very effective. Once we had taken the images we had to come to the decision on what colour to use and how to present it. However we came to the point that we were going to follow our house style of oranges, reds, blacks and white. We also incorporated the tiger logo into the background, again very faint and transparent, we feel that it has worked well.

The Advert

Katherine and I liked this album advert, because of the band at the bottom of the advert, and how they’re all looking towards the camera. We also like how the band members all have an effect on them which shows them like a stencil.
