The Women of EgyptThe women in Egypt had almost all the same rights as men, so they were very important. Some important Egyptian women from long ago include Cleopatra, Nefertiti, Sammuramat, and Hatshepsut. If women broke the law, they had the same penalties as men. Surprisingly, women did not have to marry in Ancient Egypt. They were permitted to refuse. But most women who married were early teenagers. After a woman married, her first job was to be a good wife and mother. Women could get good jobs, and could even own a business. They could even file for divorce, but they would have to give the court a good reason. Women received 1/3 of their husband's wealth that they could take with them if they split up with their husband.

They put on their Khol with wooden sticks to make it almond-shaped. They also wore green eye paints under their eyes to keep away evil spirits. The paint also was said to prevent eye diseases.
