• How does it work? Vehicle trips motion sensor Video records passing vehicle in and out (can be set to record at night only) If incident occurs, operator opens box, removes compact flash memory card
and extracts time stamped video clips on home computer. Operator can replace with another memory card if desired while searching
removed card. 8gb compact flash card (about $100 each) can store 8 hours of video. A 10sec video file per auto would allow 2880 vehicles to be imaged That equates to 411 vehicles per night for a week.
• Known Issues Privacy (legal/moral- consult lawyer?) Initial cost/community approval (initial cost less than $40/ home) Homeowner approval (power required from homeowner) Site installation (electrician/cabling/testing) Power (similar to home VCR- est less than $50/year) Accessing data/data management (committee access only?) Maintenance (monthly cleaning of lens and checking of operation similar to home electronics)
