    Trim a video on Timeline

    Hover over the video on timeline until red arrow appears then press ctrl, a yellow

    arrow should appear(the yellow circled button in the tool box can also be clicked).

    Move the yellow arrow to trim and once the video is trim, no gaps between the

    videos will be present. If trimming from the start of the video, the whole video will

    shift to the left (the starting time will be same before and after it is trimmed)

    Fade inMove the play head to the point in which full opacity of the video is required. Next, to create a fade in, press the control

    key or (ctrl) and move your mouse to the yellow line, in line with the play head, and click on that point. A white dot should

    appear. Click on the yellow line again(this time at the beginning of the video).

    Without pressing the select key, move the white dot at the beginning of the video towards the bottom . The lower the white

    dot is, the more transparent the video will be. The effect this has now is that the video will fade in and become completely

    opaque at the point where the play head is (2:18)

    DipTo create a dip is relatively similar to a fade in. Move the play to the time where the dip is required to start. Next,

    press the control key and click on four points of the yellow line( The first point should be aligned with the play-head

    and 2 points should be placed on each video)

    Without holding down the control key, move the two points closest to the transition between the two video, (Point 2

    and Point 3) towards the bottom of the video and at the transition between the video.(See red circle). The effect this

    should now have is that the end of the first video will fade out and the fade in at the beginning of the second video.

    Fade outA fade out is similar to that of a play in. Move the play head to the end of a video that requires a fade-out . Press the control

    key and click on two points on the yellow line; the point where the fade out should start and the point where the fade outshould end (the end of the video). Once clicked, 2 white dots should appear on the yellow line.

    Next, without pressing the control key, move the white dot located at the end of the video towards the

    bottom of the video (see red circle)

    Creating a title

    To create a title, press Control (ctrl) and T and this box will appear. It is called a title

    dialogue. Type in the name of the title and Press OK

    number and a black,

    3) KERNING: This

    number represents

    the kerning number.

    It is the distancebetween the letters of

    the words in a title. To

    increase/ decrease

    the space, hover over

    the number and a two

    headed black arrow

    will appear. Drag it to

    the right to increase

    the Kerning and dragit to the left to

    decrease the kerning.

    6)Styles of fonts that the text can be changed into. To

    change the font, highlight the text required fontchanging and click on the font desired.

    4) CENTER: This button is known as the center button.

    When the title is selected, click on the center button andthe title will be aligned to the center,

    Creating(editing) the title1)OUTER STROKE

    Effect: A border will appear around each

    letter of the text to make it stand out more.

    Click on the check box that reads outer

    stroke when the text is high-lighted and anedge (border around letters) will appear.

    This makes the texts stand out more. The

    size (circled green) of the edge can also be

    changed with similar methods to changing

    the text size-hover over the number and atwo headed black arrow will appear. Drag it

    to the right to increase the size and drag it to

    the left to decrease the size

    to make the edge thicker or thinner

    2) SHADOWEffect: A shadow will appear around the

    text after editing

    Click on the check-box that reads

    Shadow and a shadow will appear

    around the text.

    - Color: To change color of the

    shadow, click on the black box and

    choose desired color.

    - Opacity: This changes how

    transparent the shadow will be. The

    number of opacity can be changedsimilar to that of the text size.

    - Distance: Refers to how far the

    shadow will be away from the text

    - Size: Refers to how big the shadow

    will be

    - Spread: Refers to how the shadow

    is distributed. Close and cluttered to

    getter suggests a smaller spread

    and like the text is now suggests a

    large spread.

    Tools in yellow font can have values increased/decreased by hovering over the number. A two

    headed black arrow will appear. Drag it to the right to increase the value and drag it to the left todecrease the value,

    Edits to the selected items, in this case the title, can be made in the title property bar.

    Gradient by clicking on the tab and

    choosing the Linear Gradient option

    swatch(circled yellow) and change thecolor stop opacity to 0% by clicking on

    the number and dragging it to the left

    direction. This will make the rectangle

    seem to fade away to blend in with the

    media.

    4) Click on the second color swatch

    (circled red)and press the eye dropper

    icon(circled green). Select a desired

    color for the rectangle to be from

    anywhere on the screen (in this

    example, the color of the mans jacket

    is used)

    5)Drag the second colorswatch(circled red) to the left to move

    the top of the rectangle closer to the

    text. To move the rectangle farther

    away, drag the second color swatch tothe right.

    Close the title editing window and it should now appear in the projectpanel. Drag it onto the timeline where the play head is situated.

    Like the video clips, the Title can also fade in and fade out. Simply press the

    control key and click on 4 points on the yellow line. Adjust the first and last point

    to the bottom of the title clip and the title will fade in and out.

    Click on Edit, Preferences, General; and this screen will appear. The Still image

    default duration (circled red) can determine how long the title will appear for.

    Adjusting music volumeTo adjust the music

    volume, right-click on

    the music track and this

    window (titled audio

    gain) will appear. Clickon set gain and drag on

    volume. To decrease

    the volume, drag the

    this will give the volume

    a negative value. To

    increase the volume,drag the arrow to the

    right and it will give the

    volume a positive

    value. The required

    volume value can also

    Simply press the control

    Drag the title, which will appear in the project panel, to the timeline. As mentioned earlier, titles can also fade in and out and the way

    this is done is firstly by pressing the icon that looks like a play button to turn on video 2(circled red)

    be applied (refer to slide 53)

    pad and type in the end credits. The

    reason it is done on Notepad is so

    that the text is easy to view and to

    easily make sure the spacing is

    equal.

    Move the play head to wherethe end title should start and

    press control and T, enter the

    name of the title in the dialogue

    box and press OK . The title

    tool should appear. Press on the

    icon (circled red) called the

    Roll /Crawl option and this box

    will appear. Select roll, start of

    screen and End off screen

    Once OK is clicked, you

    should have a navigation scrollbar.

    To cross dissolve,

    move the play header

    First, what must be done is that the green screen shot

    must be taken as a separate video where the back

    ground is a single color as seen in image. This video

    should then be added alongside a video/image (asvideo 2) that you desire to be the background.

    Once all videos are added, head to the project panel and click on the tab that says

    Effects (Circled white). Type in the word Ultra in the search box (circled red)and the

    Ultra key option should be listed below. Drag this option(circled blue) onto the timeline

    and over the green shot video.

    Green Screen shot editing tools

    Under the tab effect control edits can be made to thegreen screen shot. Some of the most significant are listed

    below.

    The transparency can be adjusted to make the figure in the green screen shot

    more opaque thus more realistic. Simply, the higher the number, the moretransparent it is. Hover over the number and drag to the right to get a number of

    increased value. This applies to all values

    The Huecan be used to change the color of the object on the screen. Simply

    hover over the number and drag to make the object in the green screen shot

    change color.

    To allow the multi-cam video synchronize from the same part of the video(only

    at different angles, the in point should be adjusted so that this can occur. Using

    the screen from the previous enlarged project panel, simply click on a video;

    press l to move the preview of the video forward, j to move it backwards and

    k to stop. If you want to execute this in a more precise manner, hold down k

    whilst pressing either l (to go forward by 1 frame) or j (to go back by 1

    frame) Once the video preview is at the point of the desired inpoint, press I

    and the in point will start from the point where I was pressed.

    Creating a multi-camera video

    1)Select all the videos you want to create a multi-cam sequence

    with by pressing the ctrl key and selecting the videos that you

    need. The number of videos used can exceed 4; this is one of the

    good things about Premier pro-CS6Next, press right click and

    Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence(circled in red)

    2)This dialogue box will

    appear after create multi-camera source sequence

    is clicked . It will give you

    the option to synchronize

    points from the in point,

    outpoint or by a given

    time code.In this case,

    choose the In point

    option , rename it to any

    name required and press

    okay.

    After New Sequence from list is clicked, this screen should appear. Your time line should have the multi-

    cam video that is with the named that you named it in the dialogue box previously. Since there will be twofiles with the same name, to avoid confusion, rename the current file.

    Once the ~ button is pressed, this screen should now appear. Press the record button (circled

    red) and change the multi-cam videos(labelled) according to what you want it to be at a certain

    elapsed time. To change the multi-cam video, simply click on the multi-cam video you wish to

    change it to or press the corresponding number to the multi-cam video (1,2,3,4 etc)

    Changing the audio

    To change the audio, go the panel bar, right click on the video that did not have its name changed (remember there were 2 files

    with the same not) and select open in timeline (circled in red). More audios should now appear on the timeline as seen above .

    Select and delete the audios that you do not require and keep the ones you do.

    Supposing you want to edit the two audio files in a stereo track

    separately(e.g.: supposing an interview is recorded with a camera

    microphone and a microphone attached to the interviewee and you want to

    edit each of them separately) you would have to change a stereo track to

    mono track. Simply, right click on the stereo track, click modify then Audio

    Adding an audio cross-fade

    To add a cross fade into the audio file is similar to that of adding a cross dissolve into a

    video. First move the play-head to the audio transition between 2 video clips and press

    shift, ctrl and d This should now appear (Circled red). If you go to the project panel

    and click on the tab effects (circled blue) you will find a file called cross fade (circled

    green). Click on it and you will find that you have a constant gain, constant power, andexponential fade option. For now, choose the constant power option. To edit this is

    similar to editing a transition between two videos, to change the effect, you can drag

    and drop the effect in replacement of the effect already applied;in fact, everything is

    the same to editing a video transition- how you add, change and remove(highlight on

    the effect and press delete) it.
