STAND FIRST This is a small amount of text under the heading that gives some facts or extra information about the article or who the article is about. They have used key facys about the person, about their lifestyle in the services.

LAYOUT

The layout of this double page spread is that the title is at the top of the page, a catchy heading at the top and underneath is another heading. The are in bold writing and in a royal blue shade which goes with the magazines colour scheme.

DROP CAPITAL The drop cap is at the start of the text, it gives the magazine a brand and is usally about 6 lines down. Most music magazines use this however because this magazine defers from traditional music magazine they don’t use the drop cap within there double page spread.

IMAGE AND CAPTIONS The main image is on the right side of the double page spread it is black and white which goes with the colour scheme. Underneath the photo is illustrated who is in the photo. The writing of who is in the photo is in italics as it stands out compared to the other text. The main image has used directed address, which is effective as the viewer thinks it is aimed at them, however in traditional music magazines the double page spread image will normally the image be of who the magazine wrote about and that it is a feature article.

COLUMNS, PAGES Columns are used to split the article up and make it easier for the reader. They all use 2 pages as normally its between 2-4 pages .

MASTHEAD Masthead is the biggest text on the page and introduces the article. It runs along the page from left to right. It is catchy and makes the reader aware of what it might be about.

FONT SIZE AND TYPOGRAPHY This is usually about 12 and the typography is important as it is used through out and it identifies the magazine as it is significant. They have used a professional looking font to highlight the genre.

COLOUR SCHEME The colour scheme is about 3-4 colours that are used within, the colours influences the genre and they are usually bold and stand out when used. This magazine has used blue, black and white. The black and white show it as professional and the blue highlights it as being a Royal forces magazine as blue is linked to the forces.

SUBSIDIARY IMAGES These are used to interest the reader and make them enjoy the article or even relate to what the images might be it also gets them to want to buy more of the magazines however, this magazine does not do that as they have a specific set audience.

QUOTES They have not used quotes as they are used to draw the audience in and want them to buy the magazine, and get a wider audience. However due to the genre they have a niche audience and would not need to so.
