analysis of fonts

Analysis of fonts I love this font because it is bold. It Makes a big statement and will definitely stand out against almost any background. The letter “I" mimics the style of the traditional letter. It is only since recent times that the letter is written as a simple line; “I”. This gives the font a vintage feel as it replicates a traditional type writing font. I like this style and think it will compliment my genre of magazine well. I think this would suit a mast head. In comparison to the first font, I think this has more of a retro modern vibe. It appears smooth and the letters are quite rounded. Due to it’s simplistic features I think this text would suit cover lines or anchorage text as it would be easy to read. This font is bold, eye catching and easy to read. Although it does not appear a complex font, it has more complex features than other fonts I have chosen. This font mimic some areas of calligraphy writing since it has thick and thin edges. I think these features give the font a sophisticated and vintage feel. This font reminds me of a aztec/1920’s style. I really like as it is quite different. I think this would look really nice as the mass head as you would be able to see the main image through the outlines. Due to its quirky style, I think it can look quite aesthetically pleasing against the right main image. It also mimics the style of calligraphy by the thick and thin edges – which gives it a vintage feel. This font is very similar to the Dunbar font. It has a modern retro vibe with the round edges. However, in my opinion, this font appears to have more of a block affect. This may be because the letters are more oval shaped and less rounded in comparison the the smooth round letters in Dunbar.

Analysis of fontsI love this font because it is bold.

Page 2: Analysis of fonts

This font appears quite artistic as the shape and style of letters mimic the affect of a paint brush. I really like this font because it is really unique in comparison to the other fonts I have chosen. Although it may be harder to read than other fonts, I would use this style of font as the mast head as it is more interesting. I think it could captivate an audience more than a very simple font.

I really like this font, I love the way it mimics the style of hand writing. This could make the magazine appear more personal and bespoke which could make the magazine look as though more effort as been put into its production.

This font has a very distinct elongated look. Due to the fact the that the letters are all quite condensed and close together which could make it hard to read therefore I think it would suit the role of a mast head.

This is a very standard font. It is commonly used in the media as it is very easy to read and a bold font. I chose it due to it’s simplicity and for my magazine cover I plan to follow a simplistic theme. Because this font is so bold, it would be an effective masthead as it would be so eye catching.

This font is quite stereotypical of a magazine. I think it is commonly chosen due its simplicity which makes it very easy to read.
