Music Videos Demonstrates Genre Characteristics
Video killed the radio star is an old song and music video. The genre it would be most linked with is Electro-pop. This is like pop music but a little less bouncy and cheery. Jessie J on the other hand released her single ‘Wild’ recently and even though the genre is pop, it is a lot different.
Both the Buggles and Jessie J show the pop characteristics that they appeal to a certain audience. I can imagine when The Buggles released the song, mainly a young audience would enjoy it, both male and females who enjoy going out and dancing. Jessie J would appeal to similarly a younger audience who would enjoy going out and dancing. Also to a male audience who can sing along to the rapping section in the song and the fact that Jessie J is dressed

Relationship Between Lyrics and Visuals
In Jessie J’s ‘Wild’, the video is very basic. It is simply
her dressed in minimal clothing dancing in a set with a
white
background and various lighting and camera shots.
Whereas The Buggles video, shows a
slight connection to the lyrics. There
includes videos (linked to the lyrics)
and a famous band (supposedly the
star) The lyrics show a lack of convenience. Much like the video, both are
very random. There is more connection between the music and visuals rather than the
lyrics. Both music videos are mostly performance based rather than
narrative – telling a story from the lyrics. The artists are singing and
acting in front of the camera. Jessie J was able to do such a basic video
because she is already very famous. She releases hit singles and proved
so with this song. However the Buggles needed something a bit bigger to
