Matthews House
Homeowner is doing so muchwork, and has made hugeimprovements. He is skilledin sheet rocking, finishingtouches on doors and win-dows, and carpentry.
The outside looks much thesame, but the interior isamazing. Still need to re-place that window, get bath-rooms and kitchens installed,
paint walls and put in the car-peting.
Ten people are waiting tomove into this trailer. Thelittle house they have beenrenting is unsafe and theyhave had to put out severalelectrical fires. This newhome will be safe and clean,
and attractive.
Marks houseVolunteers have been hard atwork here at Marks. Peoplefrom Rosenberg, Sugar Land,Missouri City, Bryan, Fulshear,Mission Bend, Richmond, andHouston have worked togetherto get this house looking MUCHbetter.
Methodist partners welcomedhelp from Baptist and Episcopa-lian and Catholic volunteers who
provided electrical and plumbingexpertise. Home Depot volun-teers worked hard inside thehouse. See the results:
Lukes House
The owners have chosen apretty green paint for theinterior, and the walls are allfinished. Doors and win-dows are in place but needfinishing touches. All of theappliances are ready for in-stallation, too, purchased bythe homeowners.
Here you see installation ofsiding on Lukes House, soffit and fascia are needed,
then the exteriorcan bepainted.
Johns House
Johns house looks better outsidenow that Sugar Land UMC volunteersfinished the siding on the gable and athe soffit and fascia. There is lots ofwork to do inside the house with flooing to install and plumbing for thekitchen and bathroom to complete.
Water and sewer lines are in placealong Plummer Camp Road, but whethe lines were installed, nobody wasliving at this address, so the house is
not connected to the utilities. Ana-huac Comeback will provide theseconnections using money donatedfor the fall project. Now that thisdetail has been resolved, the work aJohns can be completed.
The homeowners are not skilled inconstruction, but are volunteering thelp get trash removed and lotscleaned up at the other sites.
FOUR HOUSES - Four Families - Home For Christmas 2009
November 16 Comeback NEWS
I want to help, but Im too far away. Are you too far away to join a work crew? There are many ways to help
get our four families home for Christmas. Church groups are sponsoring kitchen showers, angel tree projects,
and fundraisers to benefit Anahuac Comeback. Maybe you can sponsor a fundraiser or shower. Individuals are
sending gift cards and checks and household goods. Each family has a queen sized bed, stove, refrigerator,
couch, and not much more. There are many options for helping. Remember us as you do your Christmas shop-
ping, and select a few gifts that will maker these families comfortable in their newly restored houses.
Think of all the things you use in your home, things these people need to get settled: broom, mop, cleaning sup-
plies, dishes, pots, pans, baking pans, flatware, towels, sheets, blankets, twin bed, night stands, easy chair,
lamps, door mat, TV, microwave, mixer, crock pot, light bulbs, vacuum cleaners. You get the point. They need
lots of things. We are registered at Target and Wal-Mart so you can shop online, or send a gift card and our vol-
unteers will shop for you. Another special need is for a kitchen table and chairs for each family. Think of the
blessings of gathering with your family around the table for a meal together! Donation Deadline: 12-13--09
