2 split rings or book rings

2 large paper clips

Markers

Scissors

Card stock or printer paper

Numbers 1-6 printed on colored card stock from “Copy and Clip Number Sequence Patterns” file (optional)

You and your family will enjoy creating and using this creative countdown to the Sabbath flip chart. Personalize it

with colorful paper, stickers or drawings (optional). Members of the family could take turns flipping the numbers

in anticipation of God’s restful gift of the weekly Sabbath.

To assemble the flip chart, follow these step-by-step instructions:

1. Using a ruler and a black marker, mark off sections as seen in photo 1 on page 3: 2 pieces of 5 ½- by 11-inch; 1 piece of 5 ½- by 7-inch; and 6 pieces of 3 ½- by 5 ½-inch.

2. Cut along the lines and flip the poster board pieces over to hide the marker lines (photo 2, page 3).

3. Draw numbers 1-6 on the small 3 ½- by 5 ½-inch sections of poster board (photo 3, page 3).

Alternatively, cut out and paste numbers 1-6 from “Copy and Clip Number Sequence Patterns” on the small

sections of poster board.

4. Handwrite “Happy,” “day(s) until,” and “Sabbath” on the appropriate sections of the poster board

(photo 3, page 3), or print off the word art from page 4 and paste or tape it to the poster board.

5. Handwrite Exodus 20:8-10 on the remaining 5 ½- by 11-inch section of poster board, or print off the

Sabbath scripture banner (page 5) and paste or tape it to the section of poster board.

6. Using a hole punch, punch a hole in each of the sections as seen in photo 3 on page 3.

7. Attach the bottom two large sections together with the large paper clips. Arrange the numbers in a

countdown sequence, placing the “Happy” section on the top (photo 4, page 3). Use the split rings to

attach the countdown sections to the “day(s) until Sabbath” section (photo 5, page 3).

8. Flip the chart to the relevant countdown day (photos 5 and 6, page 2) and enjoy!
