730 Evaluation

A 730 evaluation most commonly occurs during or following a divorce, as the primary purpose of the evaluation is to assist in the reconfiguring of parental rights in regards to children in the family.

One parent may request a 730 evaluation if he or she feels the other parent cannot be responsible for the children and act with their best interests at heart. The evaluation can also be put into action by a judge if parents cannot agree on suitable custody arrangements. Additionally, a personal attorney, therapist, or close friend may also suggest a 730 evaluation as a way of settling custody disputes.
