Introduction to Pbworks

• Pbworks (http://pbworks.com) is a wiki website that allows the easy creation and editing of any number of interlinked web pages via a web browser using a simplified markup language or a WYSIWYG text editor.

Creating pages

• Clicking the "Create a Page" Link– In the upper right corner of your workspace, you'll see a

link to create a page. Click on this link.– You'll then see a form which lets you input the title of the

new page, and select a template to use. Make the appropriate selections, and click "Create Page."

• Creating a page in the Pages & Files manager– In the Pages & Files manager, click the "New" button. – Select "Create a page..." – Enter the title of the page and make the appropriate

selections. Click "Create Page."

Organizing your pages into folders

• Create a folder– In the Pages & Files manager, click the "New" button, then

click “Create a folder”.– Or you can simply click “add” to create a new folder.– Rename the folder

• Put a page in a folder– The fastest way to put a page in a folder is to click and drag pages into

their folders. Just check the boxes of the pages or files you wish to move and drag them into the correct folder.

Uploading files

• Upload files– Click the "Upload files" link in the upper right corner of your

workspace page. – On the files page, click the "Upload files" button. – Select the file you'd like to upload. If you'd like to upload multiple

files, please hold down the CTRL key (to add a file to the list of selected files) or the SHIFT key (to select a range of files) when choosing files from your computer.

Editing a page

• To edit a page on your workspace, simply click the "Edit" tab at the top left of your screen or hit the "ctrl + e" key on your keyboard. Make your edits and then click "Save" to finalize and publish those changes.

• Add a link– Highlight a word you wish to use as the link to the page.– Click on the “Insert/Edit Link” tool in the toolbar (see image below). – Select the “Link Type” you want to add.– Click "OK" to insert the link.

• Another way to add a link– You may also add a link by clicking the pages or the files on the “Insert

links” sidebar.

• Add a PowerPoint slideshow– You need to create an account at Slideshare and upload your

slideshow first.– While viewing the Slideshow, the embed code is available in the

Embed field. Click on this embed field and press Ctrl+C to copy.

• Add a PowerPoint slideshow (con’t)– Click the "Insert Plugin" button. – Choose, "PowerPoint slideshow" from the Office Applications

category.– Paste in your embed code into the box provided.– Click Preview, and then OK.– Ref. http://usermanual.pbworks.com/PowerPoint-slideshow

Track changes

• To see the older versions of a page:– In a page, click “Page history”– Select the pages you want to compare, then click “Compare”.
