I. Introduction of ACTS and SC, SAC and Working Group Meeting

MilestoneSEP. 2009 The initiative of establishing a typhoon and

heavy-rain research center in Taipei was proposed by National Science Council (NSC) in the 37th APEC-ISTWG Meeting at Suzhou, China.

JAN. 2010 It is recommended by consensus from representatives of APEC Member Economics in the Asia-Pacific Typhoon Workshop (APTW) at Manila to be named “APEC Research Center for Typhoon and Society” (“ACTS” for short)

APR. 2010 The initiative was approved in the 38th APEC-ISTWG meeting at Singapore.

SEP. 2010 Full proposal of ACTS establishment was approved by Member Economies of APEC in the 39th ISTWG meeting at Sendai, Japan.

NOV. 2010 The Grand Opening of the ACTS was held in Taipei. The center started to function and 1st SC and SAC joint meeting was held at Taipei at the same time.

The ACTS is an APEC self-funded Center which approved by Industrial Science and Technology Working Group (APEC-ISTWG) in September 2010.
