BIO-HAZARDOUS WASTE REGULATIONS
Problematic: State Governments and Federal Agencies impose laws and regulation
to manage hazardous waste. Those specific infectious waste must be identified (colored bag) and
stored on site. Then it will be transferred by a specific carrier in order to be managed, disposed and eliminated through sub-contractors.
Medical waste treatment is an expensive cost for Hospitals budgets.
Regulations: Different rules and regulations define the treatment of regulated medical
waste. (level of bacteriological inactivation, type of treatment etc…
The STERILWAVE process exceeds all regulatory stand ards including French Regulations NF X30-503 known as on e of the strictest worldwide

CONTEXT
Incineration of bio-medical waste is the most common option for destroying substances representing a risk to Public Health. However, incineration give out quantities of metals, dioxin and other potentially hazardous substances which are a problematic for public health and environmental regulation.
STERILWAVE transforms onsite up to 440 L / 35 kg of bio-medical hazardous waste into standard municipal waste by 40’min cycle.
Without effluent, the STERILWAVE system is an innovative onsite solution for a local disinfection of bio-hazardous waste. Easy-to-use, this system can be installed in only few hours.

BIO-HAZARDOUS MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT
Pay a third-party to manage your bio-hazardous waste co uld cost youmore than you think:
Cost of Storage and risk for the Hospital staff Cost of Transfert:
Expensive specific carrier is requested to transfert bio-hazardouswaste from the production place (hospital , medical laboraty…) to the destruction place (incineration or landfill).
 Cost of elimination
With STERILWAVE you can manage your waste right at your fa cilitieswith a short payback period.
Alternative to autoclaving solution, STERILWAVE requ est onlyElectricity supply to work
 STERILWAVE appears as a cost-effective, easy-to-use a nd safesolution.

HEAT UP Comparison between Microwave and Autoclave solutions
21
The principle of the Autoclave is to heat up with
saturated steam the chamber by rising the
pressure inside the tank. The waste are heated up
from the outside to the depths by thermic
exchange. The temperature at the depths of the
waste is rising up more slowly which request a
higher tempreature degree for the waste
disinfection (indirect heat up)
The microwaves are heating up the waste at its
Depths , then heat up from the center to the
outside of the waste. The result is an
optimization of the waste disinfection. The very
thin shredding improve the disinfection efficiency

Temperature chart: Heating Up at the Depths of the ProductMicrowave Technology VS Autoclave
22
This chart is describing the temperature at the depths of the product (the waste actually) and not the temperature of the chamber (temperature sensors)The temperature at the depths of the product is heating up quickest with microwave than with saturated steam. The efficiency of disinfection of the STERILWAVE device (8log) is over than most part of Autoclave solutions (6log)

Adaptation of the microwave with metal wastes
Insulator description
Static mechanical component which is not running with electricity.
Composed of 3 similar guideline for the microwave transfer. The insulator is dimensioned for this magnetron frequency: 2450 MHz
Installed between the Magnetron and the chamber where are disposed the waste.
Role of the Insulator
Insulating and protecting the magnetron of any reflected power due to the reflection of microwave on metal parts.
The insulator insure:1. The transfer of the power between the magnetron (way
N°1) and the chamber (way N°2)2. the complete deviation of any reflected wave from the
chamber (way N°2) to the evacuation way N°3 (cooling system to evacuate the power).
