Visual Synthesis

Janus Art Gallery, celebrating 15 years of its journey of art, is pleased to present a contemporary coterie through an exhibition of exclusive paintings & sculptures at Shridharni Gallery, New Delhi. This exhibition presents generations of artists who have coalesced to formulate alchemies and patterns, rede ned to create nesse.

Every idea, every thought is an entity in itself. Flowing freely from the brushes, they create a synthesis of visual forms. Encompassing multiple facets of daily life, these visuals create a diary, with pages submerged in social ethos, human psyche and stoic commentary. Art is a medium of expression of what we believe in…they are conduits of what we think and desire, and ‘Visual synthesis’ is proud to present them in never discovered realms of creative reasoning. The works ruf e your inner senses with myriad artistic expressions in different media like oil, acrylic, mix media, water colors, and charcoal … for paintings and for sculptures Bronze, Fiber glass, Wood, Mix Media…

Together Twenty eight exhibitors (Artists & Sculptors) have experimented with genres over time and period...they have used various medias and have given shape and hues to their imagination. They have not only unleashed a documentary, of stunning and dynamic visual imagery captured in still frames of art and sculptures, but have also formed appealing narratives… both real and illusive.

Janus Art Gallery has flourished as an art house ever since it began ‘98, very quickly carving a niche for itself, becoming a name that commands substantial respect. Janus is known for the methodical & scientific way it promotes talented new artists, an approach which was the result of providing them recognition much more rapidly than is often otherwise the case.

To do this primarily promote Bengal artists, Janus constantly searches for upcoming painters and sculptors, arranging frequent exhibitions and doing all it can to familiarize the art community and the public at large in an art loving city with the names of those who warrant the recognition. As an essential part of process, Janus also organizes exhibitions all over the country. Purposely, Janus has participated in Delhi Art Summit, 2008; Art Expo Malaysia, Kualalam-pur, 2009 and sent paintings of upcoming artists to Larasati Auction, Singapore in 2007, 2008 and also to 33 Auction, Singapore in 2011.

Sri Kallol Bose, who heads Janus, can be credited with the realization of a true paradigm in the Indian art establishment, setting an example through sheer dedication and professionalism.

Sunil DasBorn 1939

Sunil Das joined the Government College of Arts and Crafts , Calcutta in 1955, then won a French Government Scholarship to study at the Ecole National des Beaux Arts in Paris.Sunil Das’s style of work is very original and shows no specific influence. He had risen to fame like MF Hussain with his paintings of horses. Like Hussain, Sunil Das was inspired by the force and the strength of the moving horse. Later after his visit to Spain, Das was caught up with the other animal: the bull. The horses and the bull have appeared more than 7000 times in Das’s works.Das is effective in most media, though his major works are serigraphy, conte, and oil on canvas . His style involves the quick use of the brush and pen to get a dynamic effect potent with power.

Suhas RoyBorn 1936

Suhas Roy studied at the Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship in Calcutta and later at Ecole Superior Des Beaux Arts, Paris. Regarded as one of the modern masters of the Bengal School, taught at his alma mater and at Kala Bhawan, Santiniketan and has exhibited internationally. His oeuvre is dominated by depiction of female figures and forms, which are informed by certain romanticism. Though the works suggest portraiture and life study, an element of fantasy also emerges. His works while carrying a certain centered grace, peace and discourse of beauty have aspects where the shadowy, obscure and dark side of human cruelty is also evinced. His works have been exhibited all over the world through exhibitions like the Asian Graphic Prints Traveling Exhibition, USA, the Tokyo Print Biennale, Japan, Contemporary Indian Art, Yugoslavia, Romania, Czechoslovakia and Wounds, at the Central Institute Modern Art, New Delhi.

Jai ZharotiaBorn 1945

Jai Zharotia was born in New Delhi, in a humble craftsman family that lived life with simplicity. A self driven struggle and sensitive nature pushed him towards literary and artistic pursuits. His evolution as an artist was a gradual process after he trained himself in the basics of paintings and acquired a Diploma in Art. To be certain about his vocational choice, he reinforced his involvement by studying for another Diploma in Fine Arts. The next big thing for him was to joined the College of Art, Delhi as a lecturer in Painting, in the year 1974.

The female gymnast sparked Jai’s imagination as one such character that makes us marvel at the elasticity of the mind and body, as she turns the impossible in to possible and transforms in to an unbelievable spectacle. Moved by the stunning feats of stretching, arching and effortless controlling to transform in to an endless ring in space, Jai painted her as an electrifying image, radiating energy and light.

Gopi GajwaniBorn 1938

Gopi Gajwani has made a mark as a pronouncedly abstract painter over the years and as a superb craftsman excelling in impeccably defined contoured shapes and forms. He had his art education from Delhi College of Art and worked along the doyens of modern Indian art to establish an energetic art scene in the capital. His interest for graphic design and colors has helped him formulate his planned out abstractions and also brought him many accolades. His pictorial frames are fields of perfection, going beyond representations. He creates fields of contemplation for the viewers in his paintings. A widely exhibited artist, Gopi Gajwani’s work is held in prominent collections in India and abroad. His paintings have been described as abstract expressionism.

Manoj DuttaBorn 1956

Manoj Dutta’s art rediscovers and enriches the traditional two dimensional format of ‘Indian-ness’ found in folk art. His paintings and pastels bloom with luminous effusions of a few consonant colors, structured into subtle textures, variations and nuances of tone and shade, to enhance his deceptively simple, stylized images. The predominant color with which he elaborates a theme, whether blue, red, violet or ochre enlarges into a fine symphony of depth and shade to frame his images in impeccably conceptualized designs of integrated detail. His delineation of images whether with pen or brush, is similarly simple, fluent and infinitely eloquent. His images may stand out expressively from bare or delicately muted backgrounds, recede artfully behind a vigorous cross-hatching of lines, or even freeze mid-movement into a stylized format. Acrylic on Canvas, 30 x 28 Inches

Oil on Canvas, 30 x 24 Inches
