Christian graduated in 1994 with a diploma in Civil Engineering from University of Hannover and received his doctorate (PhD) 2002 from Technical University of Darmstadt. In 2009 he got his Habilitation (Venia legendi) on Soil and Rock Mechanics also from TU Darmstadt. He has more than 25 years experience in geotechnical consulting being involved as designer, publicly appointed expert and independent checking engineer in many major international projects. He is a Board Member of the German Geotechnical Society (DGGT) and elected chair- man of DGGT´s largest division ´Earthworks and Foundation Engineering´. Prof. Moormann is the convenor of the German standards committee ´Pile Foundation´ and of the Working Group ´Piles´ of the DGGT, that elaborated the “Recommendations on Piling (EA-Pfähle)”. Amongst others, Christian is also the convenor to the European committee SC7/PT4 currently drafting the new Eurocode 7, Part 3, including the section ´Pile Foundations´, after being already convenor of the European Evolution Group ´Pile Design´ since 2010.
