The Customer Ample Charge is a company committed to reinventing the traditional powerbank. They design not just for product functionality, but also optimum user convenience. The powerbank is customized to a sleek and compact form, coming with fully integrated fast-charging options and compatible with every device type – a product for every user. The Problem The client needed a functional prototype as soon as possible! The key consideration was to find someone with expertise in both plastics as well as electrical components. They had this to add: MorphoMFG specialize in the crowdfunding space and they are physically located in China. With a Kickstarter endorsement and experience in similar projects, they were the obvious first choice. Simon Gill | Founder, Ample The Challenges The biggest challenge for this project was to find the ‘Goldilocks’ zone for the product. It has to be the perfect blend of features, user experience, aesthetic and price. Designing a compact electrical gadget is a complex undertaking, not to be underestimated. There is a constant trade-off between size, cost and features and a ripple effect that needs to be factored in every time you make an adjustment with the material, form or functionality. This requires a strong level of trust and collaboration between the design-product-sales and manufacturing teams The Approach / Solution We believe in honest, open and regular communication with our clients, where everyone pulls together in the same direction with an eye on the big picture. Sometimes that means telling people what they don’t want to hear, but at MorphoMFG, we believe that every time, it results in better outcomes when the project comes first. We consulted Ample on the specific nature of the issues we were facing and our recommendations to resolve them as they came up through the manufacturing process. Additionally, we put the client in touch with key people from our local network. We can’t get into more specifics but suffice to say it reaffirms our belief that hard work, integrity and empathy towards our clients’ goals often pay off in a big way.
