ARE YOU EXPERIENCING

LOST TIME, STRAIN OR CRUSH INJURIES?

Your average existing Heel Block weighs around 34kg. You don’t want to drop one on your foot. TransNet’s ECOBlock version weighs 5kg. The larger Breast Block weighs a mere 14kg. Think of the benefits in transport and handling as well as the ease on your back.

Under stress testing at Industrial Research Ltd. concrete crumbled fairly easily but the plastic alternative continued to resist. All ECOBlocks are certified, proven performers manufactured from repurposed Rotathene 6329 plastic & harm free to the environment throughout their long long life.

Light weight plastic pole blocks remove the risk of crush and strain injuries from manoeuvring blocks into place when installing a pole and loading/unloading the truck for transportation. This range offers the added benefit of not requiring a hiab truck or fork hoist to move them around.

• Safety – Parallel moving contact system. Double clearance in each pole splits electric arc into two parts. Two arc chutes in each pole are equipped with metal plates that stretch and further split electric arc during switching off of the circuit. Such design greatly increases efficiency of arc extinction and provides controlled exhaust of arc plasma.

• Plastics – Self extinguishing and non-drip, these units are made of halogen free, fibreglass reinforced materials.

• Contacts – Silver plated electrotechnical Copper offers low power losses and high conductivity. Four contact areas mean less heat and wear. Arc horns reduce erosion.

• Functionality – Fast installation to busbar, indepentently removable fuse link covers mean only opening the cover where the fuse link operated and fuse link can be changed without having to touch it. Voltage tests can be made through the test holes on the fuselink covers.

AMPACT – WEDGE PRESSURE CONNECTION SYSTEM

In electricity networks, as in every single device that uses electricity, electrical connectors are ubiquitous. The failure of a single electrical connection can mean failure of the entire feeder. They are used to provide electrical continuity and tapped power flow. The service performance of connectors on Electricity networks must satisfy the dual requirements of long service life and high cost-effectiveness in the delivery of electrical energy. Because electrical connectors can fail they represent the weakest link in the power delivery chain.

Connections on Electricity networks are exposed to moisture, mechanical vibrations, pollutants and operational variables such as temperature excursions due to abrupt changes in operating load. If an improper or inferior connector is used or it’s installed poorly these environmental and operational factors foster the breakup of contact spots and allow the ingress of electrically insulating contaminants into the electrical interfaces. This leads to corrosion, impeded current

flow and increases in energy loss, this leads to increased connector temperatures ultimately leading to catastrophic failure.

There are basically 3 main connector technologies used in the electricity industry.

• Bolted

• Compression

• Fired Wedge (AMPACT)

The proven AMPACT tap “C-spring” and wedge design provides a stored energy system that prevents connector degradation and achieves significantly lower resistance than any competitive product over the “in service” life of the connector. As thermal cycling causes the conductors to expand and contract, the AMPACT tap spring member flexes and maintains constant contact pressure.

The AMPACT Connector's unique spring ability, reduces resistance helping the connector and connection remain cooler.

BENEFITS OF THE AMPACT SYSTEM

• Non damaging to the conductors – the wedge connector can be removed without any degradation to the conductors.

• The Design maintains lower resistance throughout connector service life

• AMPACT tap spring member flexes with heat cycling reducing resistance

• Inhibitor with abrasive particles cleans contact surfaces to reduce corrosion and line loss

• Reduction in connector failures – leads major reductions in maintenance costs over time

ZERUST® – CORROSION PROTECTION SOLUTIONS

Proven Safe, Reliable and Effective Corrosion Solutions for Electronics. Zerust corrosion inhibiting products are a cost-effective way to protect electrical components and equipment from the destructive effects of corrosion. For over 35 years, Zerust’s proprietary vapour corrosion inhibitor (VCI) technology has been proven safe and effective for protecting sensitive metals.

THE BENEFITS...

• Longer equipment life and sustained reliability

• Lower operating and maintenance costs

• Reduced down time and fewer repairs

• Protection from corrosion for multiple metals

• Optional protection such as electrostatic discharge (ESD), acid-gas neutralisers

ZERUST® PROTECTION

• Does not affect the functionality of circuitry

• Does not harm printed circuit boards & sensitive ICs

• No galvanic effects, conductive residues or surface changes

• Is clean, dry & invisible corrosion inhibiting technology

• Is safe and easy to use for personnel

HOW IT WORKS...

VCI molecules inhibit corrosion by preventing moisture and environmental elements from reacting with the metal surface. Since VCI molecules are transported through the air, they must be trapped around the metal surface using a poly bag or other enclosure. Later, when the enclosure or package is opened, the Zerust corrosion inhibiting layer dissipates, leaving clean, dry and residue-free metals.

ATR-C-01401Portable Snap

Clamp Earth Set With Combined Ground Lead, 35mm2 CU

These spring loaded clamps make it extremely fast and easy to install the earths on overhead lines, the operator simply sets the preloaded jaw of each clamp and mounts them onto the application plate which is connected to a hotstick. Once the clamps are mounted to the application plate they are lifted above the conductor and pulled back down over it to snap into place.

These clamps are equally easy to remove, simply pull each clamp from the conductor with the clamp removal tool specifically designed for use with these clamps.

A three phase set with separate earth lead helps to reduce the amount of weight being lifted into the air while the looped shorting and earth set offers the convenience of everything already being connected (this is ideal for urban applications).

Two styles available – separate earth lead or with earth looped into the set.

ACCESSORIES

• Application platform – used for attaching snap on clamps to overhead lines, comes with universal hotstick attachment
