engaged in agricultural activity; farms at least 1 ha of cultivated agricultural
land composed of fields not smaller than 0.3 ha;
Good Farming Practice is being applied throughout the farm;
enters agri-environmental commitment for respective area/metres/animal for the period of five years including the first year of payment approval.

if farms comply with the provisions lied down in Regulation (EEC) No 2092/91 (farms are certified by nationally recognised institution in Latvia);

Maintenance of biologically valuable grasslands in an environmentally friendly manner by implementation of the following activities: extensive pasturing; late mowing of grasslands.

To apply for this measure: in case of extensive pasturing – pasturing
of 0,65 to 0,74 animal units per biologically valuable grassland ha of the farm;
in case of late mowing – mowing shall be performed between July 10 and July 10 and September 10September 10, and the moved grass shall be removed.
The sub-measure shall apply to biologically valuable grasslands (incl. river flood-lands)
as identified by theorganisation “Latvian Fund for Nature”

Activities Eligible to Receive Support:Establishment and maintenance of grasslands, as: water protection belts alongside rivers,
lakes, water reservoirs and trenches of reclamation systems; field buffer belts.
The sub measure covers environmentally vulnerable zones (established in accordance with the Nitrate
directive)of BAUSKA, DOBELE, JELGAVA and RIGA districts

To apply for this measure: Support may be granted to the
applicant if:* perennial grassland is established in the buffer belt;* the length of the buffer belt for the field is at least 100 m.

In case of water protection belts: water protection buffer belt is
established in agricultural land in field blocks not smaller than 0,3 ha;
in case of water reservoirs or watercourses the width of the buffer belt shall be 10 m from the edge, but in case of a brae – from the top edge thereof; in case of trenches the width of buffer belts shall be 4 m from the edge of the trench;
undertaking is made to perform mowing at least once every year not earlier than the 10th of July and not later than by the 10th of September, removing the mowed grass.

Objective:Preserving, protecting and propagating the bloodstock of farming animals of important local breeds, which are nationally and internationally recognised as endangered populations.

To apply for this measure: Support may be granted to the
applicant if:* Respective organisation of breeders of pedigree animals has issued a CONCLUSION concerning the conformity of the animal with the criteria of preservation of genetic resources of farming animals in accordance with pedigree animal pedigree programme;

respect of agricultural area of land he declared on the first year.
The applicant undertakes not to change the declared area in the followings years as well as to declare the area that is under support for eligible crops within the framework of area of commitment.
Over the winter period from the 15th of November till the 1st of March next year, at least 70 % of agricultural land at the farm is under green areas.*

Every spring RSS sent Agri-environmental spring reminding letter which specifies the farmer’s commitments: block number, area (hectares)
Good farming practice is checked on the spot by the department of Control during the whole administration process
