Pollutants of major public health concern include particulate matter, carbon
monoxide, ozone, nitrogen dioxide and Sulphur dioxide. Outdoor and indoor air
pollution cause respiratory and other diseases, which can be fatal.(WHO, 1990).

• Objective of the idea is to use the wireless sensor network for real time monitoring of the pollutants emitted by the vehicles .
• These networks allow the physical environment to be measured at high
resolutions.
• It greatly increase the quality and quantity of real-world data and information for

• Device is able to measure pollutant concentration present in the smoke released by the vehicle by utilizing a sensing unit consisting of array of sensors, a processing unit and a transmission unit to communicate with the Server.
• Once the device is on it automatically get connected to through mobile communication network to web.
• When connected it can send the pollutants data to the web server and can be monitored by the authority.
TECHNOLOGY USED
WSN (WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK):
A wireless sensor network (WSN) are spatially distributed autonomous
sensors to monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as
temperature, sound, pressure, etc. and to cooperatively pass their data
through the network to a main location.
Future Scope
Reduce the man power in issuing the PUC (Pollution Under Control) certificate.
Helps government authority in finding the major automobile culprits involve in major pollution contribution.
Can become a crucial database in predicting the air pollution in future developing scenario.
CONCLUSION
• This project is based on WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK.
• Samples the pollutant emitted by the automobiles in real time.
• Main components which built it are GPS, GSM, ARM 7 and Gas
Sensor.
• Updates the data containing the vehicle reg. no, pollutant
concentration, its real time position.
• Helps the government authority in monitoring the pollution contribution
by different vehicle.
