Restricts sharing artwork with otherplayers.

● MiiverseRestricts users from viewing orposting content on Miiverse. Whenset to Restrict Posting, text andhandwritten messages cannot beposted. When set to RestrictViewing and Posting, text andhandwritten messages cannot beposted or viewed.

5 Getting Started

Lessons

Learn how to draw Pokémon™ anduse different drawing tools.

Main Menu

You can selectfrom thefollowingoptions on themain menu.

When you start the game for thefirst time, use the Touch Screen tochoose your gender, select yourdrawing hand, input a name andcreate a signature, and configureSpotPass™ (page 13).◆ All settings can be changed later

(except for gender).◆ The main menu will be displayed

the next time the game is started.

Extras

Change the name and signature onyour ID card, and check yourprogress.

Share

You can post artwork directly toMiiverse™ (page 11) or share it viaLocal Play (page 12).

Album

View artwork you've saved andreceived (page 10).

Quick Sketch

Learn how to draw Pokémon quicklyand easily.

Free Paint

Freely use the drawing tools tocreate any kind of artwork you like.You can use examples or photossaved to the SD Card.◆ There are images that cannot be

imported. ◆ You can receive new examples as

they are made available. To getthem, go to Free Paint and tapCheck for Downloadable Imagesduring a distribution period toreceive them.

Settings

Change settings, including soundsettings, button controls, andSpotPass settings. You can alsoview credits and clear user datahere.

6 Saving/Deleting Game Data

Exporting a JPEG Image

You can save artwork as JPEGimages, which can be viewed inNintendo 3DS Camera or oncomputers and many othercompatible devices.◆ JPEG images created from

artwork cannot be edited usingPokémon Art Academy tools.

Saving Your Artwork

You can save your artwork at anytime if you want to take a break.Once saved, you can go back to thelesson and edit it again. When youhave saved and finished it, you canview it in the Album.

After You Finish a Lesson

Tap Save and Finish.

During a Lesson / Free Paint

Press to open the menu,and tap Save.

Saving Data

Your progress is saved automaticallywhenever you finish a lesson. isdisplayed while saving.

Deleting Data

All artwork data is saved to theSD Card.

Deleting Artwork Save Data

Starting a Lesson / Free Paint

Touch Load Save and select anartwork, and then tap .

In the Album

Select the artwork, and then touch and select Delete.

On the main menu, tap andselect Clear User Data.◆ Please check carefully before

deleting any data. Once data hasbeen deleted, it cannot berecovered.

◆ Artwork data present on theSD Card will not be deleted.

Deleting Lesson Progress

Starting a Lesson / Free Paint

Tap Load Save, select an artwork,and then tap .

In the Album

Select the artwork, and then tap and select Export.

Data can be lost due to useraction, such as repeatedlypowering off and on the systemor removing a Game Card or SDCard while saving. Data loss mayalso be caused by poorconnectivity due to dirt or dust inthe system's ports. Please beaware that in these cases datacannot be restored.

Select an artwork in the album, andtap to open image options.

Name/Rename

You can choose a new name foryour artwork.

11 Miiverse

From the main menu, select Shareand then Miiverse to post your ownartwork and view artwork posted byother users.

Post to Community

Post a drawing and text.

◆ The card style and name areremoved automatically from anyartwork posted to Miiverse.

◆ Any background image taken fromthe SD Card is automaticallyremoved.

Post to Competition

This can only be selected during acompetition entry period. Onceyou've drawn a Pokémon based onthe contest topic, post it using thisfeature.◆ To find out more about

competitions, read thenotifications distributed viaSpotPass or check theAnnouncement Community onMiiverse for this software.

Browse Miiverse

Display the community for thissoftware.

12 Local Play

Requirements

- One system in the Nintendo 3DSfamily per player. (Up to fiveplayers)- Each player must own thesoftware.

Procedure

In the main menu, touch Share andthen Local Play.

Sharing with People Nearby(Local Play)

You can exchange album data andJPEG image data with up to fourother players.◆ You can send data to up to four

people at the same time.

Sending Artwork

1. Tap Send, select the artwork,and then tap Share Selected.

2. Tap either Album Image or JPEGImage.

3. If there are people you don'twant to send the artwork to, firstremove them from the list bytouching the red cross icon, andthen press Send.

Receiving Artwork

1. Tap Receive.2. Select the person you want to

receive the artwork from, and tapSelect.

13 SpotPass

Receiving Data(SpotPass)

When you're not playing thegame, leave the system in SleepMode to automatically search forand connect to the Internet viaany local Wi-Fi network to receivenotifications (includingadvertisements and promotions)from Nintendo.

◆ Data received via SpotPass issaved to the SD Card. It'spreferable to keep an SD Cardinserted in the system.

◆ Notifications you receive can befound under Notifications on theHOME Menu.

To use SpotPass, you must first:

◆ Accept the Nintendo 3DS ServiceUser Agreement and PrivacyNotice

◆ Set up an Internet connection◆ Insert an SD Card into the

Nintendo 3DS system

For information on these, refer tothe Operations Manual.

Activating SpotPass

The first time you play, you canenable SpotPass by selectingEnable Notifications when prompted.◆ You can tap and then

SpotPass Settings to changesettings.

◆ Tap the circle to toggleNotifications on and off.
