Introduction

Blessed with rich flora and fauna North East India has all the potentialities of becoming one of the World’s finest wildlife and eco tourism destination.

For that we need to work on the grassroots level. Without taking much time I would like to go directly to the solutions which can take North east India tourism to new heights. I will talk about certain destinations where developments both in the field of eco and wildlife tourism has taken place.

This solutions are prepared after taking feedback from tourists (both domestic & international), tour operators, local guides and academicians.

Suggestions

Awareness drives regarding tourism resources and their benefits

Tourist Guide training programs

Infrastructure development like clean and hygiene washroom on the highway side

Toll Free Tourist helpline number

Proper signage

Establishment of tourist information centers (travel agencies) in the Airports of North East India on public-private partnership basis.

Suggestions

Encouraging the tourism students, studying in Government and Private institutes, by organizing various tourism camps, workshops, brain storming sessions, field visits and on-the-job training programs.

Supporting the local entrepreneurs engaged in tourist activities by upgrading their skills.

Proper branding and promotion of tourist activities of North East India both in domestic and overseas market. At the same time up gradation of tourism websites, blogs, social networking sites from time to time basis is the urgent need of the hour.

Introduction of tourism subject in the schools and colleges of North east India.
