Case Study

Client is a major fruit exporter to the US, operating farms in Honduras and Guatemala. They subcontract transport of fruit from farms to port. Fruit is transported in refrigerated containers which have a cooling unit, which requires a portable energy source, in this case, a diesel fuel generator. Contractors are given a fuel allowance to operate te generator.

The Problem

Client needed an accurate way of measuring fuel consumption for diferent types of fruits, need to control hours of operation of generators in refrigerated containers in order to correctly estimate fuel allowance. These measurements needed to be performed in the field, as equipment operates in remote farms. Additional complications arose because client used 4 different kinds of engines and transports different types of fruits.

The Solution

• Integration of a MODEM and a fuel SENSOR in 10% of units in order to measure in real time fuel consumption and hours of operation.

• The information is analyze by the software generating reports automatically that are sent to the client in specific times and intervals
