My Teaching Background

• High school physics, math and general science in Canada and Arizona.

• Middle school science at Kyrene del Pueblo Middle School.

• 2nd Grade at Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary for the last ten years.

• Excited to return to my subject area and to a new grade level at Akimel A-al!

Class Expectations

• Respect yourself, your teacher and your classmates.

• Listen when a speaker is talking.• Follow directions the first time they are

given.• Work and interact in a safe manner.

Science Binders

• Three-ring binder is required, can be kept in classroom.• Notebook should be set up with dividers that are labeled:

– Daily Science– Labs– Worksheets– Notes– Tests/Quizzes

Other supplies that are required• Sharp pencils, markers, colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks,

grading pens, loose notebook paper• Donations are always welcome!

Absence Policy

• Students have the number of days absent to make up the work that was missed.

• Students take responsibility to pick up handouts and discuss with teacher what they need to complete and turn in.

• Please avoid non-illness absences whenever possible.

Grading Policy

• 50 % Classwork – activities, labs, assignments, participation, safety, notebook.

• 40% Tests, quizzes and other assessments.• 10% “Other” – homework, teamwork, etc.

Homework

• Assigned on Friday, due the following Wednesday.• Homework is online, using Newsela.com, Google

docs, and other online resources.• Paper copies provided for anyone who needs

them.• Homework is assessed for completion and effort,

not graded.• Check the class webpage each Friday for the new

assignment.

My hopes for this year…• Inspire in all students a love of science and
