Are you ready to explore the Hakka culture?

Have you ever heard of the

Hakka Tung Blossom

Festival?

Follow me!

Let’s see more about it.

First First StopStop

Snow is a rare sight in Taiwan. But d

uring April and May, tourists can see some

thing just as beautiful as snow. The Hakka

s call it “May Snow.”

May SnowMay Snow

May Snow doesn’t come from clouds. It

is actually Tung blossoms that fall off

Tung trees. Many of the blossoms fall and

carpet the ground. The ground looks like it

is covered in a blanket of snow.

May SnowMay Snow

May Snow can only be seen during the

Hakka Tung Blossom Festival. Tung

woods can be found near Hakka towns in

central and northern Taiwan.

The Hakka Tung Blossom Festival is

probably best known for its snowy

white blossoms. However, the Hakka

culture is just as interesting. After all,

the festival was inspired by it.

The Council for Hakka Affairs

started the festival in 2002. It wants

tourists to appreciate the Hakka

culture. There are many things to do

at the festival.

2009 Hakka Tung Blossom Festival

emphasizes cultural rooting in local

areas, refinement, profession, and art.

On the basis of the past, it may unite

Hakka culture, industries, and tourist

industries more completely.

Through the cooperative mode of “planning

from central administration, franchise from

enterprises, implement by local

administration, and community construction,”

industries and the image of Tung blossom are

associated together to develop creative ideas,

integrate resources, and lead every town and

club to hold diversified cultural and industrial

activities.

Activities include singing Hakka

songs, holding concerts, taking photos,

making tea, and eating Hakka food.

Some people even go there to paint. It

isn’t hard to find a beautiful scene in

the Tung woods.

Everyone is invited to the Hakka

Tung Blossom Festival. People who

need a break from the noisy cities

should go to the festival. It will be a

relaxing experience.

The Hakka Tung Blossom Festival

Theme Website also welcome everyone to

visit for obtaining updated information of

activities, real-time blossom report, and

schedule arrangement for Tung blossom

appreciation.

For visitors’ convenience to appreciate

Tung blossom, the Festival especially

prints 200 thousand brochures of Tung

blossom distribution map this year.

The content includes Tung blossom

pathways, special scenic spots of

various places, shops of Tung blossom

products, and discounts.

You may have this brochure in visitor

centers of Tourism Bureau, Ministry of

Transportation and Communications,

service areas of Freeways, Stations of King

Bus, motor vehicles offices, and direct-sale

gas stations of Chinese Petroleum

Corporation.
