A little kale a day keeps the
health problems away!
Did you know that Kale can be a major
factor in preventing diseases like can-
cer, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, and heart
disease. Kale research shows it can
help lower blood pressure, especially
in individuals with hypertension (high
blood pressure). Kale is the best-known
food source of vitamin K on the planet.
Kale contains a broad range of antioxi-
dants, and we’re only just beginning
to understand all of their effects.
For example, the kale antioxidant
quercetin has anti-viral properties, and
may treat the common cold. Eating
one cup of chopped kale gets you
over 200% of your daily value of
vitamin A, 134% of your daily value
for vitamin C, and almost 700% of
your daily value for vitamin K! In
addition, kale contains important
minerals like manganese, potass-
ium and copper. Consuming kale
also improves cholesterol levels.
Kale contains good fat and fiber.
Kale actually contains about
120 mg of Omega-3 fatty acid per
cup, far better than most plants.
Did you have your kale today?

Kale ChipsIngredients:
1 medium-sized bunch of kale,
washed and dried very well
2 tsp olive oil
A pinch or two of salt
A pinch of garlic powder
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to
300 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Wash and dry one bunch of kale,
making sure the leaves are completely
dry. If there's any moisture left on
the leaves you'll end up with
soggy kale chips.
3. Rip the leaves off the stems and
away from the chewy veins of the
kale and into chip-sized pieces.
4. Arrange the pieces of kale on
an unlined baking sheet.
5. Drizzle the olive oil as evenly over
the kale as possible. Using your hands,
gently massage the oil into the kale
leaves, making sure to massage the
oil well into all the folds and onto
the entire surface of each of the kale
leaves. At first it may not seem that
2 teaspoons of oil will be enough but
adding more oil will only add too
much moisture. If you find you
need a tiny bit more oil,
add it one drop at a time.

Sunday, October 25 - Pumpkin Ball
Open to all Osprey Cove Club
Members, sponsored and organized
by the Osprey Cove WGA:
No ball gowns needed…just your
playing partner and an orange ball
(supplied). This is an annual scramble,
actually two games in one. You will
play a typical scramble and additional-
ly, will attempt to keep an orange
“Pumpkin Ball” in play as well.
Tournament is followed by drinks,
appetizers during scoring, and dinner.
Prizes for the scramble, and a special
coveted award for that team
losing the Pumpkin Ball first.
We are currently working on a plan
to make dinner a safe experience for
all during Covid-19, so our typical
gathering in the dining room will
not happen. Watch for updates
and meanwhile, please just save
the date while we work to make
this a fun event as always.
The social aspects of these two
events will of course be guided by
conditions relating to COVID-19. Please
mark your calendars and be looking
for more news in early fall.

to miss any of the fun!
Saturday & Sunday, October 3 & 4 -
Presidents Cup:
This is a ladies OCWGA members only
net tournament played over two days:
play 9 or 18 holes on Saturday morning,
and come back on Sunday to try to
improve your score on any or all holes.
The final score will be the net score
of the 18 or 9 holes you played
over the two days.
Prizes for both 18 hole and 9 hole
divisions, followed by food and
prizes on Sunday after play. Who
hasn’t said…“wish I could do that
hole over.” Here is your chance.
Just a note that the after-tourna-
ment celebration will be different
this year. In the past we gathered
in the dining room, but this year

and leave the kale chips on the pan
for 3-5 minutes before serving to
