PRICES:
$1.99= one dollar and 99 cents.
• How much does this cost? and How much is this?, are used to ask about fares.
Adjectives for prices: expensive, cheap.Expressions: that’s too much, that’s a lot. It’s (really / kind of) expensive. It’s (really / kind of) cheap. That’s too much. Is there a discount?, to ask for a price reduction.
Clark: How can I help you?
Sara: Well… Yes, I am looking for a jacket.
Clark: All right. Is that a present?
Sara: No, I will travel to Alaska.
Clark: How much do you want to spend?
Sara: 100 dollars.

Conversation strategies.
In conversation…Expressions like: Yeah, uh-huh, Ok, all right, sure, fine, etc.,
are used to express agreement and say yes.
Expressions like: huh, oh, wow, really?, are you serious?, for real?, oh my gosh, Oh my God, my lord, oh my lord, seriously?, are used to express that you are surprised, shocked, happy, mad or
angry.
Expressions like: Well, let’s check, let me think, let’s see, um, I guess, etc., are used to express doubt, to express that you will check something, analyse the situation, and study it., they are also used to
express that you are not sure.
EXAMPLES:
A: Do you have money in your credit card to buy this purse?B: Let me check… No, I don’t.A: Oh, this is sad. Do you have cash?B: Uh-huh. 350 dollars. A: Wow, really? Let’s buy two purses.

Ordinal numbers: 1st , 2nd , 3rd, are used to talk about dates and days or the degree and frequency of an event. • Example: 1st congress; I’m having a doctor’s appointment on
march 12nd. • Let’s : it is used to invite people to do something.• Would you like to…? Do you want to…?: are used to invite
people, in a formal way.
