“Who could resist celebrating sea turtles? They may seem like lazy ocean reptiles
drifting with the oceans’ currents, but they are actually long-distance swimmers that spend their entire lives searching for food and a mate. What’s more, they come with
their own built-in GPS, returning to the exact beach where they were born to lay their own eggs. Kids will learn all about these tranquil and mysterious animals
through brilliant photography and illustrations, plus the trusted and distinctive
content you love from NG Kids!”

Then, one summer night, she lands on a beach to lay her eggs — the very same beach where she herself was born. Nicola

literary devices, such as rhyme, alliteration, onomotapea, and refrain, as the young hatchling makes its journey from egg to sea. While meeting other hatchlings and
experiencing his amazing new senses, the sea turtle hatchling tells his mother all along the way “I’m coming Mama…”
Why Do Sea Turtles Look Like They are Crying? by Jennifer Shand
“Why do sea turtles look like they are crying sometimes? Is it because they just got a
boo-boo? No, that is silly! Sea turtles get too much salt in their bodies from the salty
ocean water, so they get rid of all the extra salt by excreting it out of special glands
near their eyes! Come along on an underwater adventure and have fun

”Dangers threaten the survival of sea turtles at every stage of their lives. In this newly illustrated version of a 2000 book of
the same title, beautiful pictures in watercolor, gouache, and pastels illustrate
many of these risky situations, and the narrative describes how people are working
to minimize these threats. The title is repeated on many of the double-page
descriptions: a new hatchling is attracted to the porch light—"Turtle, Turtle, Watch Out!
Small hands switch off the light," so that the baby turtle changes direction away from the
house and toward the moonlight on the water. Other dangers are natural—the night herons and raccoons alert to the scrambling
hatchlings, hungry fish awaiting the tiny babies tumbling in the currents. People's
life-saving actions are described or shown, e.g., reaching out of a boat into the water to
retrieve a plastic bag that could choke a feeding turtle. The illustrations are soft-toned but dramatically interpret such
dangers as the looming cat on the beach, menacing sharks, and confining fishing
nets. A two-page description of how people throughout the world are helping the seven
endangered species of sea turtles survive and the thumbnail sketches of these species provide background. A good read-aloud or
read-along choice for environmental awareness.”- Frances E. Millhouser, formerly
at Chantilly Regional Library, Fairfax County, VA

“The large, color photographs in this series will captivate early readers. Every page offers brief sentences with frequently
occurring common words to support early reading. Each volume begins with a table of contents and ends with a glossary of new or scientific words that also appear in boldface
throughout the text. Every page supports learning through vivid photographs and
easily read text. This series proffers both informational content about sea creatures
and a structural introduction to book navigation. With the repetition throughout the series of, not only the frequently used common words, but also lessons in how to use a reference book, early readers should
be masters of basic nonfiction book navigation while learning interesting facts, with words and pictures, about life in the ocean. Glossary. Index. Recommended.”-

Baby Turtle’s Tale by Elle J. Mcguinness
“The book, "Baby Turtle's Tale" is about a baby turtle that was hatched a day late, and
journeys on to his family. But during his journey home, he encounters other
creatures of the sea: some are friendly and some are dangerous. 1. The book itself is
very sturdy so it will endure much abuse by the kids. 2. Illustrations are rich and
colorful. 3. The book includes "ani-motion technology" that parts of the drawing
"moves" when you flap the page, which is very catchy for kids (for me too)! Nicely
done. 4. At the end of the book, it teaches some basic facts about the sea turtles and what we could do to help their existence. This portion is very educational, making
kids understand their natural surroundings and importance of our responsibility to keep
them. Overall, my kids liked the book and was educational for them as well.
