11am Sunday 11 Sept — Year 9 Whites vs Year 9 Blues at Luketina Reserve
Presidents report for 2016...slightly abbreviated
Our players across all year groups have displayed sportsmanship that we as a club
can be proud of. This year the club had 258 Auskickers, 141 juniors (Y4-Y7) & 127
youth players (Y8-Y12), totalling 547 WDJFC players. Our overall player numbers
have increased nearly 20% over the past three years, with this being perhaps our
largest player group so far.
We fielded 14 modified and age group teams including three Year 4 teams and a
standalone Yr 12 team under the stewardship of Paul Peos, Doug Baird & Mark Pope.
The WDJFC showed great participation at the District Gala Day at North Beach and
City Beach and both Mums and Dads games were played in very good spirit.
This year, both Yr 6s and Yr 7’s had fabulous Melbourne trips with the Yr 7s group se-
curing a game at half time at Etihad Stadium being the Western Bulldogs/West Coast
Eagles AFL Fixture. Both year groups also played local clubs. The WDJFC 100 club ac-
tivity continued and was again co-ordinated by past president Garry Budd.
The club has a strong financial position and thanks to Treasurer Heather Felton for
her great planning and management. Thanks also to all our other volunteers and
coaches—we couldn't run without you!
The WDJFC has an enviable reputation throughout the district as a strong club that
does not grade its teams and we hope that you will all come back for the 2017
season.
All the best, Rob Prince, President

WDJFC 100 Club
Due to the high demand (and great times so far!) we will be
holding a 100 club meeting on the 1st round of the AFL finals.
So come down at 5.30pm on Friday 9th
September for the Sec-
ond qualifying final - Geelong v Hawthorn at the MCG
Partners are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Wembley Downs have again been awarded the hosting of finals
this weekend. This is recognition for our past performance in
hosting finals and our high standard of facilities. Any help on
these days from 100 club members would be greatly appreciated
by the club
Cheers
Jamo and Garry
Congrats Sam Ori
50 games
More awesome
efforts in the
Dad’s game
Congratulations to our two latest Life
Members!!
Liz Quail—Liz has been an integral member of the
Club for around 15 years. Liz has held just about all
the positions at the Club including Auskick coach,
Auskick coordinator, Club Secretary and Volunteers
coordinator. She has managed teams for at least 7
years and is now a faithful boundary umpire for the
Yr 7s as well as fill in manager. We couldn't do with-
out Liz’s tireless efforts to organise the trophies
and assist with all the events. She is extremely pas-
sionate about the club and the focus on developmental
football in a community environment. And she is the only club official we know of that
has had to climb a tree to rescue a ball mid game. We love you Lizzie!!
Vicki England—Vicki has been a member of the committee for 7 years, 5 of which as
Club Secretary. She has also managed a number of teams and provided a valuable and
significant contribution to the WDJFC. Vicki is always willing to help—even with 5 chil-
dren. We don’t know
how Vicki finds all the
time she shares with the
Club.
Thanks so much
Vicki!!
